the anime thread

well anime is japanese dubbed into english, but however cartoons are american and more streachy and goofy and like you said have a lower quality than most anime but there are exceptions like lupin the 3rd which is streachy, goofy, and an anime so it all matters where it comes from

A japanese car is still a car, why the need to differentiate? And why are people so discriminant anyway? I've seen people on forums that are crazy about this anime thing but absolutely hate other cartoons.

BTW I meant that the anime had worse animation. From what I've seen, all the talking in these are made up of the exact 2 frames- frame with mouth open, exact same frame with mouth closed, with no other movement whatsoever

Japanese anime is an entertainment medium all its own and covering every genre fr horror to fantasy to sci-fic to romance, like TV shows or movies. If you've access to the full range of anime as offered in Japan, you'll understand...

American cartoons OTOH tend to be meant for kids. With some few exceptions, and even those mostly aren't meant to be serious stuff. There're lots of 'realistic' anime out there...

What HaloManiac said. ;)

The original Japanese dub is probably way better - I prefer original Japanese dub with subtitles.

I personally don't care for most anime. However, my roommate recently forced me to watch several episodes of Cowboy Bebop, and I must admit, it is sort of funny.

:mwaha: Another convert...

Anyway, to be honest, I really don't like most anime. I've just found that Cowboy Bebop is just...better then almost all the anime out there, or at least in America. Its either that, Inuyasha, or Dragon Ball where I live...so the choice isn't so hard. :p

DBZ is not the best from the japanese anime, but it still has good things :)

Ninja Scroll is the only Anime' I've seen that I enjoyed from start to end and didn't leave me scratching my head at the 'inscrutability' of the Japanese; maybe it was just a really good translation.
I've seen it at least 20 times!
Can any anime' experts here tell me who created this masterpiece and if they have done anything else?
