Julius Caesar I - What is possible is to have a settler from each nation on a remote island surrounded by a moat so that nobody can possibly get there. Then you could take away all of there abilities (especially create city, join city, disband and all things that allow movement in any form). The game will say that the nation has not been destroyed untill the settler is killed. I have just tested this method and it works beutifuly. :)

Pfeffersack - I will definetly make Italy a seperate civilization as soon as they have a fixed alliance.
 
Version 6 is out now. To download it you need to have PTW version 1.7. I have left the previous link open for people who do not currently have this version. The AI no longer razes cities in this version. There are also some other changes.
 
soooo is it 6.0 or 5.7 ?

And have you fixed the AI razing cities? I tried the whole thing on adding Boston to the US and putting Leaders over there (lol i forgot the Neutrals so they died pretty quickly, and i had to redo and reload) but then I noticed all the MPP i had with everyone and Germany started attacking others and Poland was being destroyed. No cites left to retake. Hope this is at least possible to change, otherwise I will be most upset :p
 
Julius Caesar I - Version 6 is the new one the download above if for people who don't have PTW version 1.7. The AI no longer razes cities and in version 6 I have made an island with a moat and mountains and then put on most of the civilizations (in the form of a settler).
 
Loading Version 6 in the editor I notice that the SU is unable to build tanks until it researchs rocketry(because standard tanks are disabled)...I think this is the reason for the lots of paratroopers.
I will try now a game as SU to see how fast it is possible to research tech.
 
I loaded it but am only in Oct 1939 b/c i havent had much time to play. So far things are ok. Russia is less reluctant to sign an MPP, so now they are on my side (the Allies). Germany didnt get mad and declare war on my for trying to plant a spy which is good in some ways because now I can monitor them somewhat. One problem is that the HMS Hood is the ONLY ship that can see U-Boats. Did you mean to do this so that other boats like submarines can see them, if so I'll build some. Otherwise it makes the Uboats a very scary shark in the water.

I am greatful for the Naval Transports, I have begun landing troops near Paris and Calias to be ready for the blitzcrieg (spelling).

The new boundaries are nice, Germany looks more like it should, poor Poland doesnt look like they stand a chance. I like the Lancasters, Ill see how they hold up to the almost 60!!! Folk Wolfs you gave the Germans! 80 Panzers to destroy, and I still have to research a few techs till I can build Panzer Crack, you make it challenging, yes. I look forward to liberating Poland and taking Italy for myself... mmmwaaa ha ha
 
Pfeffersack - I didn't mean to stop the Soviets from building tanks however thinking about it it might not be too bad. It could be used to represent the way that Stalin killed almost all of his high ranking officers as the Soviets shouldn't do very well on the offensive untill they get access to more tanks. This could (if it works as I hope it will) make it so that the Soviets will fall apart as the Germans advance on them but then push back to Berlin at the last moment.

Let me know how long the Soviets take to researcg Rocketry.

The AEGIS cruiser can see U-Boats and Submarines (its available with computers). The Hood can see them as it was equiped with radar.
 
Some observations with V6.0 (playing SU, ~turn 10):

-in the first turn I made an alliance with the Axis against Poland.I was able to take three of the eastern cities in Poland, while Germany take the rest.For some strange reason the Axis destroyed Warsaw(they capture all other cities).Also, there was the standard message the polish civ is destroyed after the last cities was captured and Poland disappears from the diplomatic list...I wonder if Poland has one of those settlers on the island?

-I like the concept of the "undestroyable" nations due those settlers.My idea is to improve this further...I would suggest to drop the assimilation chance for ALL governments to zero (because the time is measured in months - and the duration of the scenario is rather short...so it would be realistic that citiziens keep their nationality) and further to increase the resistance modifier of all governments vs. fascism to maximum(and perhaps for fascism against communism).This would prevent or at least delay the development of catured cities, exspecially for the axis.So the Axis wouldn't be able to outproduce BE and SU and the resistance against the Axis in the real WW2 would be in the game.

-IMHO it would be good to give some cities (for example Turin,Bolzano, Nis and a few others) in the mountains at least on tile of grassland.At the moment those cities are restricted to a population of 2, which is very low.

-about the treasury of the SU: In the first turns I was able to spend 10% on research (bringing the treasury balance to -50), but since Jan 1940 I was forced to stop research complete to avoid bankrupt.Putting all money in the treasury results in a balance of +10.I try to increase income by building a lot of roads, the commercial buildings and I focus on city growing, to be able to maintain a greater amount of units for free.My goal is to research Rocketry ASAP, but I think it will take a long time under these circumstances.
My suggestions would be the following: Russian infantery should require no upkeep (to simulate the fact that they are fighting for the defense of their home instead of money) and the SU should have the benefits of Adams Smith Trade company (of course, the wonder should be renamed...but it would reflect the fact the under communism the economic buildings are under control of the government).Those changes should allow it for SU to constantly spend 10%-20% on research, which would lead to rocketry in the beginning of 1943.

-In march 1940 Axis and BE sign an MPP! I think the ability to sign MPP should be taken away from AI-Players (like alliances)
 
Pfeffersack - don't know why the Germans Raszed Poland perhaps they bombed it into the ground first so it was population one with no cultural buildings - has to be razed (I think).

The undestorable civs doesn't seem to be working - I will have to play around with it. It worked fine in my testing - the only difference was that the AI had no cities to start with.

I will place them on grassland.

I will look into your idea for the Soviets and will probaly implement it.

The AI doesn't have the ability to sign MPP normaly. The problem is that the only civ that can make alliances is the one with the technology called "Alliances". You must swap this to the civ you are playing with. The default is Axis Powers.

BTW - My dream for this scenario is to have it on this scale but covering the whole world. This is currently impossible with the game and unfeasable with current computer power. So if these change some time in the not to distant future then I will do that. :)
 
I also witnessed from my bunker in London that Warsaw was destroyed and some other cities captured, Switzerland was destroyed and so I have stopped there for now. I wonder how this can be changed. Otherwise everything seems ok, are bombers no longer units b/c all i can build are langcasters (better defensive) but if this was not your intention I'm just letting you know.

Germany is really stupid, they sent 30+ Panzers to attack Denmark, and my Lancasters are in the middle of destroying them all. I lost 3 destroyers and almost lost a Battleship to 4-6 submarines lurking around the shores of Norway, damn those invisible subs. Hood is on its way with several new Veteran Battle shipd and regular destroyers to the area to hopefully sink them all b4 I loose too many ships.

The Naval war is very exciting, and the ground war is about to get very good also. I cant transport the Infantry Transport unit by boat (why not since Army can be put on boat) so i airlifted it to Gibralter -- it shouldnt take too long to get to Northern France since i have ROP and the rails almost are all connected... still a bit out of the way to fly them over to Spain. I also notice you named Gold as a strat resource, and called it "Brotosh Empire" did you mean to do this? Its a little funny when trading it to others, almost seems like Im giving them stock in my empire? lol "Give me your maps and I'll give you 1/18th of my empire"
 
Cities in mountains: Better place the grassland near the cities...AFAIK theres a limit of 2 for the food production in the city tile.

About MPP...I checked it in the editor...MPP are at the moment connected to the tech "nationalism".I think simply remove it from here and add it to the "special tech" alliances will solve the problem.

A scenario including the whole world would be really great...there are a few out there, but they all suffer from the fact that the scale brings the battlefield down to a few tiles and cities.
The maximum extend of a map is somewhere beetween 300*300 and 350*350...at least thats the maximum what you can create in the editor via "Generate Map".Probably still not enough for the whole world in this scale, but the USA could be part of the map(if the oceans are reduced in their extend, it would be perhaps even possible to include Japan)
The greater problem is the power of computers...I think a map of this extension with units, cities e.g. will take to load an hour at minimum.

The resource "British Empire" is given to BE to give them a production and commerce bonus (to balance out their smaller number of cities and the fact the uSA are not part of the map).

In your game...has the AI of the Axis really declare war to poland?
My games are usually only realistic if I play as Axis...I form an alliance with the SU and declare war to Poland, France and BE.As SU, I also from an alliance with Axis and attack...but it never happened that there begins war between BE and Axis(in my actual game they even sign a MPP!).Playing the British only resulted for me in a game without any wars, except I declare war.
 
I know what happened with the MPP. I had changed it but I had to reload in the rules from a past version and then alter them - I must have missed this. I had to load in the rules because something that I had changed was stopping the game from loading up.

I think that untill computers get faster a truley huge map is out of the question because the turn time alone would take forever. I feel that at the moment the time it takes to load the next turn is acceptable.

The Axis did not declare war on Poland, Poland declared war on the Axis. You see, any good leader finds ways of having the enemy attack and making himself look innocent (Americans are notoriously good at this, being one i should know).

No, I set up MPP's with all nations, except Turkey and Greece who would not, and then by some intelligence mishap Germany declared war on me because a spy didnt do thier job correctly. Or atleast thats what we'll write in the history books once the Allies win. :lol:
 
Julius Caesar I - I think it was Himler who said that the way to control the public was to tell them they were under attack and denounce the pacifist for lack of patroitism and for endangering the country.
 
1/As the Axis attacked Poland, The Britisch and French declared war on them, you should make Poland in a mutual protection pact (if it is possible with the editor, otherwise, wait for conquest)...
2/ there are so many nations available, Italy and Germany should be separate....
3/ German troops were very well trained.... the panzer shouldn't be regulars....
4/ the war started in Danzig, Polish name Gdansk, with a fireshoot between German and Polish, a German ship then bombed the city, it should be on the map
5/this one might be stupid, but what happened to temples? ( in this case churches would be better)
6/ In Austria, it is Salzburg, not Slazburg and Innsbruck
7/ In Germany, sorry, but the Cities are not at all at they place, if you want some help, contact me
8/ The map is missing a lot of forest, roads,....

Great way of entering the cities to the game, must have been a lot of work

2. This is because of MPP not being available (I don't want to see Italy invading Germany)
3. The Panzer tanks are already defeating all of the enemy troops in the game untill they research more (and by then the player will have researched better tanks anyway)
4.Danzig is on the map
5. Temples are in the game its just that Germany cannot build them
6. Corrected - Innsbruck was a typo
7. Tell me what cities are in the wrong places and they will be moved
8. The forests arn't there as the map isn't designed by me. The roads arn't there to make cutting the supply lines a lot easier.

2/ Germany did Invade Italy during the war.... the main Problem is also, sorry to all Italians, that Italian Troops in WW2 were not like the German ones, they also were not were succesfull....

most of the German Cities: Instead of Bremmerhaven, Bremmen, You forgot Munich and Nurnberg, 2 of the most important German cities... Frankfurt is in the Center of Germany, go Straight up to Kassel, then Hannover, then Hamburg. Cologne is at the same height as Brussels and Calais, Karlsruhe is south west of Frankfurt, missing also dresden, south east of Leipzig... sorry,... also other things.... Graz is misplaced, it is further north, between Linz and Vienna, in the middle, just slightly south of them.....
In Spain, replace Vitoria by Bilbao (main Industrial Center of the Basque Country.....
8/ I'll be making a map with more of America and North Africa on it, tell me if you want it, I already have a first image of it...

PS The railroad from Messina (Sicily) to Italy is not realistic... it's an Islang, ther Bridge will only be built in the next couple of years....
