The Capo's LH Gallery and Self-Help Thread!

Maybe someone who has been working with the new blender can help me out a little bit here. I'm trying to assign the arms to the proper bones and I can't seem to use my old Mark Seam technique. As you can see in the attached image I followed my regular procedure:

  1. Drew a seam.
  2. Selected a face and then selected "Linked Flat Faces."
  3. The whole arm is hilighted! :(

Is there a new way to handle this? Ekmek? Nitram? CFK? Igor? Lil' help!

yeah the new way is to use polygon mode and hide (press H to hide alt+H to unhide)the parts that you don't need. basically isolate the part you want, you can also highlight the edges you do want hide them and select the linked and then unhide. then do select linked faces, all in edit mode. at least you can go to textured mode now. i wish they brought the mark seam functionality back :(

also this hide technique is described in my guide ;)

Ekmek, any suggestions on fixing the sash? The problem is, as far as I understand, that Logan doesn't have clavicle bones, so the sash can't be assigned to lie on his shoulder.

what part moves? the bicep. i guess you can assign the overlaping bicep to the spine/torso so it wont overlap. or shift the torso back more. or modify the animation.

Eh, that sucks. Alright well I guess I'm going to have to learn a few new tricks here. I am working on Tamerlane with IgorS. This might be delayed a day or two while I learn this stuff Igor.

What is Polygon Mode?

Oh, come on, Capo, it took me a few seconds to understand that hiding thing. Just follow Ekmek's tutorial and you will see that this can be done within seconds. You select both elbows and assign them as Right_Elbow and Left_Elbow or something like that, then do the same for the shoulders (see pics in Ekmek's tutorial- he shows it well). Then you can play with it as much as you want.

I did delete a few triangles directly under the sash, but I'm afraid that if I delete more you will see holes in some animations. Changing animations is out of the question since Logan only works with Logan (The Capo tried every option and nothing succeeded). I think we should try your idea of assigning the bicep to the torso bone.

Capo, make room for Holy Roman Emperor Charles V!

Oh my Oh my! Igor you are getting really good at shadering.

Well, there is no such thing as "good at shadering" actually. You either know how to do it or you don't. It doesn't involve creating something new, just adding the missing files and re-exporting the LH in Blender. It can take some time though to add shaders.

Thanks a lot Igor, I'll update that one soon too (so leave it up for a minute). It looks fantastic, and that was one of my favorite LHs by the way, so thanks a lot.

Anyway here is where I am on Tamerlane. I am thinking of adding a tassle from the sword's handle but we'll see. First I gotta retexture the body, but I threw this together so you can see what I came up with and let me know what you want me to do/change before I continue. What do you think? (keeping in mind the texture will change on the body).

I haven't nifswapped it, or tried it in-game yet. I was going to do a quick nifswap and then just send it to IgorS to finish up. But I think he's pretty much ready to be polished and released. Here is what I came up with for the texture, it doesn't look as great as I envisioned in my head, but I still think it looks pretty good. I'm not sure how accurate any of it is though, but this is kinda what I think in my mind when I think Tamerlane. I also figure if you make an LH generic enough it could find other uses too. So should I NifSwap this and send it over Igor or what?

Do you think it looks too "Asian"? I wanted to try and combine elements of Mongolian, Turkic, and Islamic together but I think it seems a bit Asian. We'll see what it looks like in-game when Igor gets finished with it though. After this gets finished up I am going to start my "return" to LH making (I put it in quotes because I have actually helped with a lot of LHs during my "hiatus") by upgrading some LHs I have and actually editing a few into new ones. Sorry Ekmek, but David Ben-Gurion needs a face-lift... although it is going to be a reverse face-lift in that he will look much uglier! That one is more of an edit of another LH though, so it shouldn't take too long. Then I'm going to upgrade some LHs I have made before, and then I am going to start pumping out all of the new ones I need for my mod. Which is around 12. So a lot of new material scheduled here after a long time of silence... only to be followed by more silence as I finish my mod. :D

:):):):) :):):):) :):):):) :):):):) :):):):)!!!!! :wallbash:

I accidentally deleted a god damn :):):):)ing bone. How do I get it back?

I hate Blender. :):):):)!

Well, that means I have to start over. Damn it.

EDIT: Ugh, this Askia LH has been KILLING me!!!!

man, you are rusty.

well you could reimport the original LH into your current LH blend and have two skeletons in there then swap your new LH to that new skeleton by renemaing its parent to scene root.00. then delete your old skeleton and rename scene root.00. assign the stuff to the restored bone. export. make sure you name it scene root in nifskope in case it remembered scene root 00. then reimport. it takes afew minutes.

or just go back to an older blend export that and nif swap without deleting your previous model. import into blender and join the obects of the meshes and assign the appropriate bone and then delet you rolder mesh.

some minor surgery i guess. but this is why i save multiple blend files :D

Well knew that, just wanted an easy way (like Ctrl+Z or something). Anyway here's Askia in NifSkope, I am about to test him out but I have this feeling that I screwed something up somehow. We'll find out shortly I suppose. And yeah, I feel pretty rusty right now.
