The Capo's LH Gallery and Self-Help Thread!

Hard choice, but largely unimportant as they will all get done (and knowing Capo, in short order). I'd have to put Clovis and Nasser at the top of the list I want to see, shortly followed by Cetshwayo and Lalibela.

Since you've already previewed Cetshwayo, however, I'd suggest that you go ahead with him. It looked like a very impressive design who could be widely used for sub-Saharan leaders.

I'd like to get my first round of new LHs out before I start getting into more complicated things. While I am pretty sure I have everything down as far as these guys go, I have spent a good amount of time away from making them and I am clearly rusty, so I'd rather stick to doing them like this for now until I move on to something more complicated. I could always go back and improve upon these, but I'd rather get familiarized with making them before trying skeleton swaps and things like that.

Its not at all difficult.

1. Nif Swap LH A (Nehru, in this case) into LH B (the one with the desired animation) to make LH A2
a. If there are missing bones in LH B (it will give you an error when you try the swap if it does), find the NiNode bones that are missing in LH A's skeleton and copy it to LH B

2. Odds are, its probably distorted. Ignore that and save LH A2

3. Import LH A2 into Blender

4. Export LH A2

5. Nifswap LH A2 to LH B

6. ?????

7. Profit

I vote for Cetshwayo.

Well, good news and bad news. The good news is that I took Igor's advice and made my own Cetshwayo from scratch (well, by that I mean I edited the Cunhambebe model myself rather than using CFK's Xerxes as a base), Cetshwayo had a receding hairline and a beard, and I think I did a pretty good job on getting that look going. Although he was quite a stocky man (probably more in the vein of Civ IV's Shaka) and I didn't really edit Cunhambebe's body, but I didn't want to risk clipping issues with the animation so I didn't alter the body at all. Colonization LHs seem to use their own animations and nobody else's so I didn't want to risk yet another screw up on Cetshwayo. So there's that issue, but all in all I think it looks pretty cool and I have attached an image.

Now for the bad news; unfortunately when I attempted the NifSwap I got the same problem with the last version of Cetshwayo, so I have to figure this out before I start shadering this new batch of LHs. I attempted Ekmek's suggestion with no success (I'm hoping I just did it wrong and can still salvage it), so in the meantime I am going to have to come up with some other type of idea. Anyway what do you think of this version? I know it's basically the same, but I think it looks different enough that I'd ask anyway.

EDIT: Nevermind, I think I have everything lined up properly, except I can't get the eyeshadow things to line up correctly. I'm going to take a look at it in-game to see what it looks like.

or you can use this gameplayable (but not shadered) nif from your old one.

I'll try them both, but I think I like the latest one I made a little better. I'll put them up for comparison. :goodjob:

But if I need to I could swap the eyelids from the one you just posted over to the newer one right?

Well, I looked at them both and I think I did a better job the second time around. Here he is in-game, I forgot to fix up the alpha channel on that sash but here's a screen-shot anyway. Now I gotta check out Dido and then do some shadering! :goodjob:

And here is Dido, obviously I still have some skinning to do but I just wanted to show what she looks like in-game. Also I think it has been too long since Madman has seen his girlfriend. :p

She needs a few touch-ups, and I still wanted to add an effect to this LH (I wanted to make it dark and and give her a fire-light effect, the same one Sitting Bull has), and I still have to add shaders, and of course I obviously forgot a texture file for the eyes as well as reskinning her in general. But any other suggestions would be good.

EDIT: Got rid of that strange blue lighting and moved her up so you could see her midriff. I'm going to try to add that Sitting Bull effect now, although I am not really sure what I am doing so this may be a horrible disaster!

EDIT 2: Sorry Ekmek, no old english tramp stamp! I am not going to use Cathy's greeting because it looks strange, but you will get credited at least. :goodjob:

EDIT: by the way i figured out how to get sitting bulls lighting. just copy over all the light bulbs and get rid of the old ones is the easiest way. (you could just take the ambient light but just getting all of them is easier)

When you say lightbulbs Ekmek, is this what you mean?

And it will "flicker" and stuff too right? That's the main thing I wanted to happen.

I tried moving those over and all that happened was her torso got darker but there is no firelight/flicker effect. So I either did something wrong or that isn't how you do it. Have you had any luck yet Ekmek?

It doesn't look too bad though really, if I could get this to happen to her head and hands too I'd probably keep it. But ultimately I'd like the firelight effect.

Love the Cetshwayo. Looks pretty accurate, except for the loss of 200 pounds or something. :)

Yeah, Capo, I think you should at least make his face fatter (I did it with my Shaybani Khan and I think it makes him look fatter, so you should try it too).

I did try that, but it looks weird unless you make his neck fatter, and then that looks weird if you don't make his body fatter, and when you do that stuff starts clipping. I might come back to it and fatten him up a bit, but for now I don't plan on altering it. If anyone else wants to do it after I release it that's fine with me, but it gave me enough trouble for now and I'd rather get it over with until I get better at this. We'll call this Cetshwayo version 1.

Plus Shaka's already chubby, and we don't want to make the Zulu look lazy do we? ;)

I suppose I should try and learn to do shaders now. I hope I don't totally :):):):) this up.

We understand. :)

It's just kind of funny, seeing the actual historical pictures...

I know, I know. But I am not at a very high skill level with this stuff right now and animations look really strange on bodies with no clothing if you don't do it right, originally I was going to use Shaka's body becasue it fit Cetshwayo better, but I didn't want to make a whole leaderhead only to realize it isn't cooperating with the animations (which is happening with Dido right now, but I'm working on it) again. I'd rather get a few LHs under my belt before I start getting really technical. And I can always come back and make them better. For now though this will have to suffice, and compared to the original Cetshwayo people were using (a reskinned Montezuma) this guy is OBESE!

Cetshwayo went here.

i think you need to have shaders to have the lighting effect work (since nonshaded LHs dont use lighting)

but yeah those were the bulbs and by the looks of things you might have to add the files to the head (you may have used the nonshader head)

I used the nonshader for both I think (it appears so in NifSkope, there aren't extra texture's there). So is there a way to add shaders to parts that are nonshader parts?
