The Capo's LH Gallery and Self-Help Thread!

Holy crap Arpad looks awesome. I'd never before really played as Hungary (I guess they just never really piqued my interest) but... holy crap I'm going to now.

People seem to love him as is, might as well not adjust him too much

Beyond giving him a bit of hair in those red circles as you said you would, yeah, Arpad doesn't really need much more work.

I still have a lot of reskinning to do on this, and I have to figure out how to get that eagle on top to get a metallic effect. :goodjob:

does the rest of the helmet have the metallic effect? It should. If not it would be easy to get it from the original. for the eagle just join it to the same object taht the helmet is and then delete the extra materail so the eagle shares the same material as the helmet. just maake sure its texture i so on the same dds ;)

That LH is just so awesome I may just reconsider making Arpad the leader of the Hungarians in my mod.

Thanks for the kind words everyone.

Unfortunately, I went on a pretty rough drinking bender over the weekend (I didn't sleep at all saturday night, and continued to drink the next day and well into the early morning after that  ) so I didn't get anything done at all since I posted the last preview.

I feel like total crap as I write this.

Anyway, I'm a bit surprised by the comments because, to be honest, I wasn't very sure if it turned out well, and thought it was pretty average at best, so I'm happy you guys like it. :goodjob:

Hm... Mongkut's eyelids appear bright pink in-game. Another user reported this issue in the downloads section, as well. Otherwise, it's an absolutely terrific leaderhead. I'm in the process of implementing better leaderheads to a personalized version of RoM (which I feel has extremely lackluster leaderheads), and this is by far the best Mongkut I've found.

I am too lazy and drunk to get into detail, find an eyeshadow.dds file and throw it in the folder with him. Sorry that was quick and possibly rude (depending on what cadence you read it in). Oddly enough, what you are doing right now (i.e. modding RoM, although I first started modding Thomas' War because the LHs he chose totally sucked) is basically how I got into modding. So keep at it.

Anyway...

I announced the LHs I am working on currently, I also announced previously that I will retire from making (Civ IV) leaderheads shortly. So I figure I might as well announce another one that will be part of the last LHs I make.... drumroll please...

I won't even write this man's name, because he is one of my favorite historical figures, thinkers, and leaders ever. So in my mind he needs no introduction. He will also be my first, and most likely last, American leaderhead....

It has been requested plenty of times, and I will probably really enjoy making him. And honestly, he was one of our most brilliant and best presidents ever.

EDIT: The LH will NOT be based on this image.

EDIT 2: I hope that last statement wasn't confusing to people who aren't completely fluent in English, my friend who is not just told me that was a confusing statement to him.

EDIT 3: No he will not be in Diplomacy II. Well not the one I release, he will replace that over-rated republican jackass Reagan in my personal version.

EDIT 4: You know I'm drunk when I go over one edit. :goodjob:

More the reason to do a leaders pack for Diplomacy 2. That way we can have both Jefferson -and- Teddy (alongside Reagan.) China can get Wu, Chiang Kai Shek, and Cixi. Rome can get the rest of Ekmek's Romans, etc.
And since it'd be completely modular, people could choose which leaders to add to their game.

@ Ekmek; I didn't mean the LH was over-rated, it is superb, I meant Reagan's Presidency is overrated.

EDIT: I can't believe I spelled overrated two different ways. :crazyeye:

EDIT 2: Or is it over-rated? I have no idea, damn English language...

EDIT 3: Overated? No, that doesn't look right at all.

Thanks! It wasn't rude at all - help is help, and it worked. Unfortunately, now there is an issue where just below his eyelids, his eyes will be white during certain frames (particularly when he's moving around upon his greeting animation and when he turns his head to the side).

Cool :). I've done little bits and pieces here and there. I try to do what I can to help the community within my skill level (for example, writing and editing in Civilopedia entries). Unfortunately my time is too limited to get into modding completely (summer classes, work, etc.), otherwise I definitely would.

Can't wait to see Thomas Jefferson!

TJ's a great idea! It's far better than some other US presidents that are on here, but I won't say them so as to not insult anyone. Once he's done, I'm replacing Jackson, though! :D

I didn't even think about. Though I like Reagan I'm rational enough to know that there hasn't been enough time to accurately assess how good of a president (or not) he was.

Still not enough time for FDR either :p

After almost 100 years everyone has started to realize that Wilson sucked.

ONNNNNNNNNNNNN TOPIC - I want to see this Jefferson. And I really should redo Jackson at some point.

So you are retiring and then moving to civ5 leaderheads?

I said before I was going to make around three more rounds of LHs before I officially retire. I'll probably still help people, and wouldn't be against a collaboration effort, but yeah, they'll be around 12 new LHs I make before I'm done.

And it isn't too early to assess a presidency, we have statistics. That who concept is commonly stated by people who basically suck, know it, and hope the future looks at them differently. I think we all know who I am talking about here.

As far as Wilson goes, you COULD say what you said. But I'm sure most people thought he sucked then, you're talking about a time when well over half the voting-age citizens of the country couldn't vote (women, poor whites, poor blacks, immigrants), so its easy for a douche to win in those circumstances. Hell, its easy for them to win even without those circumstances.

I'm pretty sure that Arpad would have done badly in American politics, both at the time he was alive and today. Regardless, his leaderhead has been shaping up quite well; how's he looking these days?

I have been busier than I thought I would be over the past few days. He looks pretty much the same, but he is basically FINISHED in the sense that the LH works. I just want to make a few edits and I still have to get the background decided, but he generally looks the same as he looks in the last few previews.

Don't forget I still have Cavour, Yagan, and Marcos to work on too.

Just as long a syour plate is empty when civ5 comes out. we have much work to do unravelling that one and hopefully converting our stuff to Civ5. :D

Everyone knows statistics can say anything. depends on your metric and what you are trying to measure.

But we do have an academic bias slanted towards those that increased the power of the presidency or centralized government as being "great." Plus if you get shot in office your rating goes up out of sympathy (cough) JFK (cough). :)

Maybe I should do that Nixon leaderhead though... America lacks a ruthless LH
