The Civ V wish-list!!!

I'd like to see more of a variety of workable tile types, something to give grassland and plains a hand. It'd be nice to be able to plant trees.

Not sure if this has been mentioned but if I destroy a civ, I want their damn techs!!!!

This has been a paid presentation by me.

And world map, and some of their units that consist of soldiers and equipment (tanks, artillery, ships...)

We should just get whatever units are left after we destroy the civ.

The civs could even get a brain and surrender like they do in Age of Empires II, giving me a couple of cities without effort and a bit of troops, not to mention techs and world map.:D

'You hath beat the living shite out of me, haveth my shite'

Yes, if there was an introduction of a State/Regional system, they would have to expand the civics feature.

Also, as other Civs adopt a more democratic government, there should be occasional insurrections trying to fight to overthrow of their oppressive regime. This could be accelerated with propaganda that spies can inject.

But if a Civ with an oppressive government is in the lead, then people of the other lesser civs will have insurrections to fight for a government that will emulate the Civ that dominates the world.

If captured by the insurrectionist, the territory they control will be a ally and could be vassal of the civ they are trying to emulate.

Wait! In todays democracies, that doesn't happen. Maybe before the concept of Constitution should do the trick. With Constitution that should stop the overthrow-ners.

But there's one spot, how about the Republic's? We have 2 types: one Roman Republic (Which became the Roman Empire) and Modern Republics (That became after a monarchy regime). Oh wait a second, there is a 3rd one, after a Communism regime.

Type of government system in conjunction with the Era of History plus techs, we are looking to a complex ideia but very interesting one.

nukes that work, and the manhattan project shouldnt gibe nuclear tech to everybody, every body should build their own manhattan project.

1) More Civilizations and more Leaders.

2) Unique Units should depends on the Leader, not on the Civilization

3) The numbers of religions should depends on the map size, 7 religions for tiny map is way to much.

4) Ancient religions of Egypt, Aztec and Vikings should be included.

5) Unique National Wonders, to boost one City during their historical Golden Age

1. AN AUSTRALIAN CIVILIZATION!
Many Aussies like me have long since awaited an Australian civilization. The only problem is who would lead that Civ?

The Call to Power games had an Australian civ. The leader was Gough Whitlam.

I would like city populations to be actualy units you can place anywere on the map to work a square, so city placement isnt as important in the late game. certain techs would increase the distance the units can work form their home city. So, if you have loads of grassland you can turn it all into farms and send the pop of a big city off to work it to create food for the whole civ. these units couldnt improve squares: just work them and send the benefits back to their home city. City placement should still matter, but in the late game what a city does (produce commerece, production, GP etc) should be about the buildings in it, not where its placed, as in real life.

The tech tree and civics would have to be expanded. Also, maybe they should introduce, great political scientists to rush civics without having to learn the tech.

I preferrr Rome white as in civ1 and 2... :D

True, it also made their units easier to make out in civ I.

But I definately want the red again. I was in a war with Japan, and I really liked the look of their red borders, it was almost a shame to occupy them and make them purple.

Update- 2/06/08- I figured out how to mod my civs colors, I changed the Dark Purple to dark red.

I haven't had time to read this whole thread, so let me apologize in advance if some (or even all of these) have been mentioned before. I don't think any of my ideas are particularly original, but they're some of my favorite features of old games. Also, I have no clue how hard these would be to implement.

1) Terraforming -- By the time you get to the modern age, you should be able to raise and lower land. Surely, if your civilization can build Modern Armor, it can build a bulldozer, right? And dynamite. It's been a while since I played SMAC, but IIRC, not only could you raise and lower terrain, it affected wind patterns and rainfall. Want to slow down that agri civ without declaring war? Raise a line of hills on their windward side and dry out their land. Don't want to build tons of transports to cross 1 measly tile of water? Raise a bridge.

2) Turn summary -- Before I go on to the next turn, I might want to go back and review what's happened, particularly if I've fumble-fingered something. In MOO2, there's a turn summary. Not much, but it says things like "Planet Alpha has completed a Battleship. Next in queue is a Missile Base." Even better (for SGs) would be the ability to save the turnlog as a text file.

3) Custom units -- While I like the variety of units in civ, one of the things that I've always loved about MOO2 and SMAC is the ability to make custom units. To put it in a Civ 3 analogy, I'd like to be able to do things like spend 50 shields for a 2-move settler, or 110 shields for a cavalry with bombard capability. In SMAC, I could make unique unit designs, then pay to upgrade. In MOO2, I could refit ships. I could even take one ship into the design workshop and make a custom design just for that ship if I wanted.

4) An in-game screenshot utility -- I can do the MS-Paint "PrntScrn & Paste," but an F-key that snapped a screenshot, named it and saved it as a jpeg sure would be handy.

5) Unique governors -- MOO2 had colony leaders and ship leaders that would show up periodically and you could hire them. Then you would assign them to a specific colony or ship, and they would bring whatever bonus they had to that colony or ship. For example, one leader might have "+20% labor," which would increase production, or "Famous," which (IIRC) increased the chances of other leaders showing up, or "+15% Diplomacy," or such things.

6) A kill counter -- At the end of a game, I'd love to know just how many enemy units I killed, what kind and whose.
