The Council's C3C PBEM

So sry. 10987654321

I sent you two files one of them is right.

Thanks, I got them now, but....

How do you count "visible" in the opening screen? I have an utterly worthless start, with only three tiles able to produce 2+ food, but there is the promise of two or three more (forested) grass tiles in the black. Even if there are those six tiles though, the start is still really crappy, as all other tiles are useless. I would call for a restart, but I don't want to break any rules. If someone wants to adjudicate, I can provide a screenshot.

My original intention when I wrote "visible" was what can be seen immediately after opening the save on the first turn.

Well, I can see that there are forests just outside the visible area, in the fog, and they are likely to be on grass tiles since they border grass tiles.

Actually, moving the worker (which I would do anyway) reveals that there are indeed 6 tiles that would be the equivalent of grass tiles after some chopping. But those are the only six tiles that would be the least bit useful, the rest are not even semi-useful. I'm fine with playing on if that's what the Council wishes, but in that case I'm going trekking.

I'd understand it this way: visible are the tiles, that are completely visible. No fog gazing skills necessary.

At least forests are way better than swamps...
But thundra is not too appealing I guess...

So if fate will have us another restart, please include tomasjj this time ;)

Without fog gazing, my initial screen contains three grass tiles, four desert(!) and the rest is salt water. Moving the worker shows two grass forests and a grass, two swamps and two jungles. :cringe:

Well as an AGR civ, your Mayas should love irrigated deserts... :p

Do you have any fresh water in sight? I guess not, otherwise you would not complain...

So we have another restart, right?

Meh, I can just as well show you. I've already told you so much about the start. And as I said, if you think I should continue then I'm going to trek anyway. ;)

Hum that start is bad as it can be bad, lets ask Rik Meeleet for a pangea standard map for 8 people with balanced starts all around, im sure he wont denny us one :D

or

how about we import the map from Rise of Rome C3C scen and play on it :P

It can be a lot worse, but that start is certainly worse than mine.

I am not sure if it makes sense to try again if people keep the save for 3 days, but I will ask Rik if he wants to make a random 8 people map according to the usual specs, and then modify tiles to ensure Aigburth's criterion is satisfied (which I will read as "5 tiles inside the fat cross of the settler").
Please keep in mind that this does not mean a balanced map.

Indeed. We need to speed up the process by a lot.

I'm going to need to withdraw my commitment to this. I'm just to busy.

Rik has agreed to create a start! Could everyone please pm him your password?

:woohoo: Password sent! :salute:

Sent! I would like a cow, a wheat and some wines in the start .... :D

sent it along with some nice promises and pics from my lady.

Just to please the Great Meleet
Not to gain any unfair advantages... :nono: :groucho:

What I did:
Generate random maps under these parameters:

Parameters:
C3C version 1.22
Normal climate
Temperate temperature
5 billion yrs old
standard size
restless barbies
random land mass
random water
emperor level.
No AI.
standard rules (i.e. game defaults), except: cultural links off

I then adapted each of the 7 startlocations to be fair. I then redistributed goodyhuts, resources. I then made a few more adaptations and that's it. (I don't even know which civ starts on which starting location since that'll be random.)

I only need Donsigs PW and I can kick off this game.
