The Entire Thought Experiment

seen the save.

do not get the synagoge and artist used in bejing but you made a remarquable job at spreading minning corp.

next action is clearly kill some part of vox.
there is enought in our fleet to take washingthon. A reinforcement can come next by sea but we also need a bit fregate to protect our boats.

do we wait for cam or pigswill take war buisness in hand?

Looking at the save the only minor omission I noticed was airships, particularly useful when paired with cavalry. We should be able to get AL in 3 while knocking out 4 airships and be ready to Dow in 2-3 turns.
At some point we could do with some spies, probably in Albequerque, to steal milsci.

pigswill, did you post on the right thread?
We don't have physic and couldn't find Albequerque city ^^
although that can be a good idea to steal Mscience

I proposose we let cam until monday to show up. He claimed he would be back beginning of october and here we are...

Wot, no physics :crazyeye:.

Albequerque is due east of Beijing.

Let´s wait for Cam, I´m flying back to England today and back to work  so I won-t be able to play for a few days anyway.

Hi guys, sorry for my lack of input, but I'm having some serious hardware malfunctions. I hope to get everything fixed by the end of this week.

Hi! :) Back.

Laudable spread of Corporations - great work.

I assume I'm up if everyone's OK with me picking this up albeit I'm a bit 'cold'.

I'm feeling the pressure of 'the clock' with this game. It would have been great to have both Assembly Line and Combustion before launching our attack on the Vox, but I'm thinking that we'll just have to upgrade along the way. Indeed, railroading through Vox territory could have been handy, but I appreciate the pressure to get our homelands fixed first.

I'm thinking that we should take Memphis with pretty well what we've got in Guangzhou while waiting for Assembly Line to come in for the eventual push to New York / Chicago / Phili'. That naval stack south-east of Denver - I'd probably use it on Buffalo or L.A., as it'll get killed I suspect if we tried to take and hold one of the core Vox cities. As such, maybe kick off the attack in two turns when the navy is positioned more to the east than it is?

Tech-wise; Assembly Line > Combustion. Adab will give us instant Oil. I can see appeal in Physics, but a few Destroyers and Transports will go a long way I suspect given our timeframe.

Open Borders with China?

Can I fire off a Great Sci - Great Artist Golden Age, or should we be banking these for late-game?

I think they were stockpiled waiting for AL to arrive. I say once we have AL fire them off. Perhaps make our cities grow for now.

hi cam, glad you came back :)

My idea was to take vox cap (new york?) by sea and use land army to make the jointure and few cities in the process.
After we take 1-2 planed legendary cities, the war should stop and we can go back to build our space ship.
I'm sure we can acheive that with our current setup.

But feel free to make your own idea :)

We need a few more things. Like bribing Shaka or Boudica into a war. A great general to get blitz promotion on a cavalry.

a general horse unit should have a ongoing promotion open for blitz, we just need MSc.
but agree that bribery should be acheived ASAP.

Thanks for the feedback everyone.

I think that there's still quite a bit of opportunity for some further micro' to be done in our cities: Eridu (Heroic Epic) should be working on military, as identified some Work Boats would be beneficial for the southern fishing villages and as such I'm thinking two each out of Ur and Lagash, Beijing (Maoi) needs a review in both builds and citizen allocation, the Libraries in Guangzhou and Tianjin are for opening Scientist specialist slots I'm assuming so I'll see them through, Cahokia's got two merged Great Generals so I'd look at using that city for unit production despite its commerce-orientation, several cities can whip their Zig's. There are some other tweaks here-and-there. I'll endeavour to get Mining Inc. everywhere in our empire.

Perhaps more strategically oriented, I'm not that excited with the idea of using that medium-sized stack in Galleons for direct assault on New York. It's just not big enough and I'm worried that it'll get mauled. I'd much rather pull them back and instead add them to the force that will plough through Memphis, Buffalo, and L.A. with the aid of reinforcement Infantry in a few turns.

I'll keep an eye open for a war bribe, but as noted, both Boudica and Shaka are WHEOOHRN.

I'd settle for peace with Washington - it's unlikely but the last thing we need is a surprise naval attack from the Founders somewhere in our thinly defended empire.

More feedback would be appreciated if you feel inclined. I will play anytime within the next one to three days.

'Tis done ...

Played a ten turn turnset:

Made peace with Washington and opened borders with Qin at the outset.

Most cities put a turn of :hammers: into a Rifleman, so when Assembly Line came we could immediately whip out some Infantry without the 'no :hammers: invested' penalty.

I played it fairly safe - opted to wait a few turns before 'DoWing' Lincoln, and earlier brought back the troops on the boats to eventually join with the Guangzhou stack. We have taken Memphis (shrined Islamic Holy City) and Buffalo. We've got two stacks south of Los Angeles.

We spent some serious cash on naval upgrades when Combustion came in, which allowed us to pick off a number of Lincoln's Galleons, Frigates, and Ships of the Line once several of our own Frigates and Galleons were upgraded.

Popped two Great People; both Great Merchants. I used Alexander Mackenzie on a trade mission to Washington DC (1,900:gold: used for the abovementioned naval upgrades) while Leif Erickson's unused and residing in Kish along with Homer, Rembrandt, and Euclid.

We whipped fairly heavily, as unhappiness was pretty problematic through Sid's Sushi pushing populations up and a host of negative modifiers (Emancipation, war weariness, motherland, cruel oppression, yada yada) meaning that four pop whips into Factories were unusually commonplace. Aside from adding a reasonable number of Infantry, many cities now have Factories and Coal Plants. Our Corporations are fully spread, while there's a couple of Executives still needed for Buffalo (Mining Inc.'s Exec' is near Buffalo, while the Sid's Sushi one is being built in Guangzhou).

We defied an AP motion to hand Chengdu back to China. Fortunately the motion failed, as Washington voted "No", so we're not villains after all!

Tech-wise: Assembly Line > Combustion > Physics in 2 or 3 turns. No trades.

In terms of Espionage, it was all against us: we spotted a few Spies, but lost a Factory to sabotage. I was mindful that there's the option to steal Military Science from the Vox, but I did naught about it.

Shaka's still WHEOOHRN. Boudica's making some progress in her war against Washington, and has taken a couple of his cities in Kansas City and Detroit. Qin's also gone WHEOOHRN. As such, no bribes were available ('Possession' game variant objective).

In terms of the roster ... as I understand it;

great set.

for next one, our goal is philadelphia at least. with new york, it would be better (SoL) but not absolute necessity.
Agree that we should build some spies if possible for democracy (priority to swap for emancipation) then Msc

for tech : way to electricity IMHO

'Yes', I think that we should be in a position to take on Philadelphia and New York. Assuming we capture them, I'm not sure if we shouldn't raze them to make it impossible for Lincoln to sneak in his cultural win should he attempt to re-capture his near-legendary cities (?).

I agree that Electricity is possibly our next target - as an aside, I would have thought Shaka would have built The Kremlin by now, but maybe Communism's an alternative worth considering in light of this handy World Wonder? I usually chase The Internet in spaceship games almost as a post-Medicine bee-line and then on to Superconductors after Computers, so us opting for Electricity is in line with my usual approach. Personally I usually defer Rocketry due to my focus on getting The Internet and Laboratories, but if the roster especially feels that getting Apollo up quickly is important, then I'd be happy enough to go with that even though I'd probably prefer a pathway to Superconductors instead.

Sengir to note that Lincoln has a Frigate down south that's ripped up some of our seafood improvements. There's a Destroyer about to come out of Ur to put an end to that, but we'll want to churn out a couple of new replacement Work Boats.

i considered razing new york. only 25 wonders inside ... :mischief: including AP and SoL ....

in reality, we won't be able to keep it under pressure while phili have jud shrine and without pressure from new york, should be fine.

Why not take more cities then?

it may be costy while it is not our primary objective :) (which is, at this point, avoid loosing to vox culture victory)
It will all depend of our army when we take phily I gess...

I haven't got Civ up and running again atm, so a swap would be nice.

That's fine.
