The Feet of the Grand Master - an ongoing controversy of galactic importance

Master Yoda is an icon. A generation of people have grown up idolizing the Jedi Master and imitating his incredible manner of speaking. Despite all the worship the pointy eared fighting machine receives, there is much we do not know about him. We don't know what species he is, nor from what planet Master Yoda came from. But even more importantly, we really don't know how many toes he has. Yes, that's right: Properly speaking, we have no idea how many toes Grand Master Yoda has on his feet, because there have been contradictory appearances in several parts of the Star Wars canon.

There is a truly excellent article on Yoda's species and the controversy over the number of toes Yoda has here. For those of you not dedicated enough to read the six short paragraphs on this crucial subject, I will summarize: In the Phantom Menace, Yoda has three toes. In The Empire Strikes Back, Return of the Jedi and Revenge of the Sith, he has four toes. Worst of all, in Attack of the Clones Yoda has five. Just as confusingly, in various Yoda action figures Yoda is given different amounts of toes, and they even have slightly different shape and look different, as well as contradicting the established cinematic canon.

Besides simply informing all of you ignoramuses of this serious issue, what I really want to do is to have a discussion. I'm putting a poll up, in the hopes that people will vote on how many toes Yoda has, and then defend their answers using logic and evidence born out of a passion for our special little green alien. I believe we can find the true, real answer here - CFC OT has never failed me before. If we all work together here, I'm sure we can find the answer.

Well the answer is simple actually. The toes on Yoda's feet actually change according to the amount of Force he uses.

When he is not using his force. he only has 3 toes and hence he has to rely on walking stick for balance. See pic 1.

but when he uses the Force. His toes will grow to 4-5 or even 6 depending on how much force he needs. Hence explaining the lack of walking stick.

The canon of the number of toes of the species that Yoda belongs to is quite silent and ambiguous on the subject. Some models show three, while others show five.
