The Fifth Game: Towers of the Amurite

I tend to beeline GK regardless of starting situation. Thoughts?

What's GK?

God King, sir. God King.

I'd say we need Animal Husbandry for sheep first.

In a normal game (i.e. Vanilla CIV) I'd agree, but we're probably going to grow to happiness cap then churn out a settler. Do you usually build a worker before you build a settler, Lone Wolf?

I'm also pondering moving our settler 1N, to give us 4 hills to work for production and one less mountain. After some input from you both I'll get up the first 20/30 turns.

I definitely agree with moving 1N. This way we get rid of mountains in our BFC. (2 of them, anyways.)

I would start with worker and animal husbandry as well. I usually don't build my first settler until my city is growing fast. When we are tending those 3 sheep, we can churn out settlers as fast as we want.

I just remembered I set the time to "epic." A worker must come first in this case.

I'll have the first turns posted tonight.

I tried running a test game in Fall Further, and I do not see the user interface controls. Only the map and units. Anybody else experienced this type of issue? Regular Fall from Heaven works fine.

Thanks.

Hmm. I would check the Fall Further subforum for any problems with the user interface. Also, make sure you're patched to patch N. I'll see how things go with fromage67 before I post the turns.

Yeah, I have the correct patch. I posted a query in the FF thread. Hope I get a response. Civ4 and FfH work properly, so it is a specific issue to FF.

I got some helpful replies in the other thread. Unfortunately, they suggest reinstalling BtS from scratch, which I don't want to do under the circumstances.

I'm afraid I am stuck with this problem. BtS and FfH are working fine, but the ModMod is kinda broken for me. Sucks, but I will have to skip this game.

It seems I'll have no choice but to convert this to a FfH game. I've no serious qualms with this... I simply wanted to do a FF game to get a team acquainted with the modmod and then try the Scions of Patria for a domination one later.

So, are you two up for a normal FfH game?

OK Dienekes, problem solved. Somebody apparently deeply understands the mods and python.

Ready to play the game as started.

So, what checkpoints/handovers do you propose?

I played some FfH in the last few days to refresh my memory, and though the tech tree is somewhat different in FF, I agree with the beeline to GK. Animal Husbandry might not be a bad idea first, though. First build should be warrior. I was still in a regular BtS mind-set when I suggested worker first. Barbs are just too dangerous.

I usually build 4-5 warriors before a worker/settler in FfH.

Yes, barbs and animals are not to be trifled with in this modmod. Especially spiders. Especially... spiders.

As for turns, I say we each start with 25 a piece then we'll see if anyone else decides to join.

I'm the exact same way. We'll probably get to size 3 before hitting a worker, then heading straight for happy cap for settler. Turns up shortly.

Turn 1. We are a sheepish folk. Something reminiscent of the Scots. Or Highlander.

Cevedes: Warrior

Since we already know ancient chants, mysticism is the logical first choice with our lack of workers. Our scout heads west and our warrior east.

4. Our scout explores a lair and takes damage. Not the brightest of decisions but I'll stick with the montra fortune favors the bold.

6. Meet the Scions of Patria. Far ahead in early score as usual.
Spoiler :

As a neutral civ, they'll be one of the easiest allies to create. We need to check their expansion, but also bend to their whim when possible. Their armies will support our efforts elsewhere.

Our borders at Cevedes pop to reveal a bevy of seafood to our north.

10. Cevedes Warrior:Warrior

11. Locate the Broken Sepulcher to our west. That takes care of the death mana.

12. Cevedes grows to size 2

16. Cevedes Warrior:Warrior

I send this fighter to the north. Patria popped a barrow in the south where Warrior I is. I fortify across a river on a hill in preparation for a brawl.

it- Flawless victory; promote to Combat I.

17. Locate Alexis of the Calabim... who is located near the game's second best feature.
Spoiler :

20. Warrior I kills a lion; no promotion.

21. Cevedes Warrior:Warrior

We are Chad?

Spoiler :

No complaints here. We've reached our food cap with this positive outcome. The western scout locates Dragon Bones south of Alexis.

23. Warrior I barely escapes a griffon. I'm very glad I sent him home early instead of healing fully.

24. Number 3, south of Alexis:

Number 4, to our N-NE:
Spoiler :

daracaat.jpg

This will be a fun game if not an experience in pain. Vampires, zombies and brutes, oh my.

25. Cevedes Warrior:Worker (due in 11)

27. Warrior II kills a lion.

ibt- Warrior II dies to a spider...

28. Meet Sheelba.

Spoiler :
sheelba.jpg

You'd think she would be near Daracaat. But on this turn she had cast For the Horde, so who knows.

29. Adjust research to 80%, netting us 1gpt and maintaining mysticism in 2.

30. One turn left on mysticism. Obviously we'll head agri-AH afterwards and get Cevedes a powerhouse in no time.

Anyone care to make a dotmap?

It has been a few years. I miss the old system.

Looking good. At least we will not be too constrained by the Role-Playing Rules. Nearly all our neighbours are evil. I should be able to play tonight.

 Fer crissakes! I get a abort runtime error when I try to load game with your file, Dienekes.

Seems like I'm not fated for this. Maybe the error is with your file, but this seems unlikely given my previous problems.

I will try to reinstall FF once more...
