The Fifth Game: Towers of the Amurite

 Fer crissakes! I get a abort runtime error when I try to load game with your file, Dienekes.

Seems like I'm not fated for this. Maybe the error is with your file, but this seems unlikely given my previous problems.

I will try to reinstall FF once more...
The save works fine for me.

Our prayers go out to you. I think my sanity is on the line, as well.

OK, I give up. I reinstalled Fall Further v050, Patch N from scratch. And when I load your save file, Dienekes, I get run-time error and Civ4 crashes out.

Any more time lost on trying to resolve this gets me that much closer to a padded rubber cell.

I will either sit out, or participate in a FfH game if you want to play that.

Cheers

I'll prepare a FfH game tonight. I seems Warrior II shall not be avenged.

Finals week. That's good enough an excuse for my lethargy, I should think. New game with same restrictions will be rolled on Wednesday.

The anticipation is palpable.

Finals were that bad. Up two nights... then 13 hours of sleep to wake up around 3pm for the first time ever.

Game will be underway this weekend (no foreseeable complications).

I'd like to remind everyone we're going to play the latest patched FfH series. No more FF dreaming. If anyone else would like to join, two slots are available.

I am curious... would you accept a new player? I mean really new player. This would be my very first SG so I might need some help with posts but otherwise I am a fairly decent FFH player (I play mostly monarch).

In this economy I'm willing to take anything... even a monarch player.

Do not worry, you'll do fine Dominicius. With you aboard we'll have one available spot left.

Ok, we've got a full roster.

Btw, my above post should say Sunday. I'm on a computer in a lounge at the Tropicana. Can anyone guess my addiction?

People, I've just realized patch .41 has come out. Should we stay with .40 or move on to the future? I'll need everyone's input before starting up this game.

Well after reading the changelog the only noteworthy things seem to be the AI improvements. Everything else is one big blob of 'I don't care'. So it depends, do we wan't to play agains a smarter AI?

Since Lone Wolf is living up to his namesake, I'll go with the majority.

Opening turns will be posted in half a day or so.

The Beginning. Settle 1 NW next to rice, our only source of food. We will have a commercial boom town in our capital, a necessity for fast-paced research.

1. Locate a barb city directly to our S.

3. Barb city to the N.

7. Barb city to the W. Jokers to the left of me.

8.

it- Warrior kills Bear Grylls. Promote to Combat I.

10. Barb warrior threatens our capital, so bring back our injured warrior.

11. Meet Os-Gabella.

12. Meet Mahala.

15. Meet Flauros.

17. Cevedes grows to size 2.

19. Cevedes Warrior:Warrior
It would seem Os-Gabella or Mahala has destroyed that southern barb city.

Go ahead and move our scout around south. Have him mull around for some city spots then have him head east into the darkness. It's nice having the Pyre nearby, but nothing else significant has been found yet. I've never played with this many factions on a standard sized map... so this will be a unique experience.

Roster:

Dienekes the Second

fromage67
Lone Wolf
Dominicius
Diamondeye

11. Meet Os-Gabella.

Yeah, we are in sucky situation. A low food starting area, plus personalities like that PMS'ing apocalyptical chick, that economical vampire, and that not-really-that-evil-lorewise early rusher.

We're going to need to beeline Bronze Working soon to get axes up if we're to have any chance at early survival. As soon as we find Os-Gabella, I think we need to focus on her. Her pyre zombies will tear us to shreds if she grows too large... even later in the game.

I will play later today.

So, to be clear, what patch version are we playing with?

The start is OK if we get a secondary food city nearby. That capital is going to be a huge gold/tech producer if we survive that far.

Plus, all our neighbours are evil, so we don't need to worry too much about role-playing restrictions.

Patch .40, fromage. Have fun.
