The insane toughness of Indian competitive exminations

Aneeshm, do students on every track take these tests?

I recall from the other thread that you mentioned different 'tracks': science, commerce, and arts. Do arts and commerce students have different tests? And if they do, how substantially do those tests differ from the ones shown?

(I can't see an artist taking this thing, sorry. The ones shown put Calculus AB to shame)

Integral

This is for those wanting to to for engineering.

The real problem is not just the test, it's the competition.

8,50,000 people appear for the AIEEE. Out of those, only the first 15,000 get a good college/uni, and the next 15,000 get a decent college/uni. That's only 3.53%. Around 2,00,000 people take the JEE. Out of those, only 6,000 make it. That's only 3%.

This is due to a lack of quality educational institutions. Only the top hundred in engineering, for instance, count for much.

In other countries, there are a larger number of quality institutions, so the tests provide you with a better chance.

I don't think I've ever seen a multiple choice maths exam that mattered...

The math section looks liek the IB HL exam that I have to take next year. If I had taken Chem or Phy those sections would proabaly look famailiar too but I haven't. The questions are somewhat diffrent but its more or less the same . .. .. .. ..

Well, it seems adequate except for the fact that most of the test is multiple choice with only 4 choices, i.e. it is even more susceptible than the SAT to preimage attacks. I would not say that its difficulty qualifies as "insane".
