'Lost in a Dream': The memoirs of Winston Churchill
Today was a most interesting day. We learned Much from Captain Arthur about the nature of the Valkyries. It seems that they can travel between the dream and the outside worlds. It is a fascinating concept. How do they? Why do they? How does time work in the dream? After all, I have been told we don't age here, and my body and mind respond far better than in the outside world. I think perhaps I should seek to write something more complex on the issue in the future, but for now i will confine myself to the events of the day.
We returned to the Hotel Arlington, and attempted to repair the damage Colonel Mears had done to our relations with the Legion. It was a near useless trip in that respect. Hitler refused to speak to us, and Octavian declared he would accept our alliagence only if we were to kill the Dastropan Premier. This went down Horribly with the team, and although Shannon was in favour the Reds refuse to hear a word on the issue. I myself am divided on the issue.
However, the trip did do some things usefully. We have had today (and tonight) two encounters with the Valkyrie 'Bastet'. At first her wrath was attracted by our new companion, Elson, and she quickly killed him. My other companions feld, and left me alone with the creature, who seemed to think that I too should be killed. However, I was able to persuade her that was not the case, I had done nothing wrong after all. She left, and my companions returned to continue the journey.
On the way back to Dastropa we stopped to set up camp for the night, and were attacked by a band of Ruffians. The fighting was going poorly, and I did not expect I would see another sunrise. I took a sword to the belly, just before Bastet arrived once more to break up the fighting. This time however things were not so pleasant, as In the fighting I had been forced to resort to dream powers to defend myself. Again though, my proverbial pen proved mightier than the sword, as I pointed out that given the choice between certain death to the bandits and probable death from the Valkyries there was really no option. Oddly enough this arguement even persuded her to heal my wound before moving on.
Perhaps; I find myself thinking now, we are misunderstanding the Valkyries. Arthur seemed to beleive they could be co-existed with, and the ability of wordds to sway them hints that they are more like normal people than they would let on. I feel this requires much more thought before a conclusion can be reached. Perhaps in the dream there are no conclusions...
Edit: I went on a solo and we now have a nice new car. DON'T SCRATCH THE PAINT!!!!
