This game is IMho just the best Fps game ever.

OFp is the most realistic fps game to this day.It is played in 3d enviroment's bigger that 100 square kilometer's.It include's over 30 modern vehicle's all controllable by player's ,including tank's like the m1a1 abram's ,russian bmp1' and 2,t72's and t80's ,m2a2's and m60 tank's.AA vehicle's like the vulcan and the Shilka ,heli's like the uh60 blackhawk ,apache's ,hind's and many more, and troop support vehicle's like ammo truck's ,various apc's ,jeep's ,even jets like the su25.
In addition reguraly new addon's are created by user's ,new vehicle's ,mission's ,island's ,troop's and total conversion's like the Vietnam mod ,the Flakland's mod ,WW2 mod ,etc.

The visual quality of the game is breathtaking.People can play mission's in sp ,or in mp in various mode's like:
Coop: play toghether and defeat the enemy (AI) troops
CTF: two mp team's fight against eachother over the control of particular city'd/location's
RTS: Two mp team's build bases ,research technologies and build unit's to fight over the control of as much terrain as posible.

Very true!

Flashpoint is by far my favourite FPS and even one of my favourite games overall.
The greatest thing about it is how easy it is to mod and to create missions.
It has some technical downsides though, like collisions for example, as well as multiplayer on the internet.

But it's great in a LAN and as a singleplayer.

Considering the mods, will 1944 ever come out?

Invasion 1944 already released a minni demo ,and will release the demo probably in march. The demo will include infantry and weapon's ,some vehicle's like halftrack's ,AT gun's and maybe a Tiger. As to the complete work i think the still need half a year.

Seb Nam pack 2: I don't know if you have it ,it's the most known and used vietnam modification for the moment.Lot's of mission's are being made for it for sp and mp.It include's a wide vary of new U.S choppers like the huey's ,Us and vietnam infantry and infantry weapon's.Afcourse a jungle island. The armored vehicle's are modification's of the m60 and the t55.
It's still a good quality mod and especially it's complete and playable. And some very talented mission maker's are producing fine mission's and campaign's with exilerating music and freightning battle's.

The Falkland's war mod is progressing very fine to.It has a very dedicated team ,and the are reguraly posting new and progress.
It look's to gonna be a very high quality mod.

I played OpFlash. It was a very good FPS, but I think its been overshadowed by BF1942, which has the same hop in any vehicles, very realistic feel. I certainly felt that a sequel to OpFlash, with much better graphics and some of the major bugs worked out would be very fine.

They should also make it a little easier too. Thats why I mainly stopped playing.

Operation Flashpoint, Red Hammer and Resistance were all excellent titles and I enjoyed them immensely as per usual to the detriment of my degree!

I did get heavily into modding, but never released my work as it relied far too much on custom art and it was too big a task getting a host for it and I never got it complete to my satisfaction :( .

It was based upon a sneak attack of Malden (my favorite Island of the original) by Guba in order to destroy some nuclear silos installed by the Americans covertly and against an Internation Treaty.

The plan was a civilian ship lands at a dock I built and I had a scripted cutscene of some Spetznaz soldiers dispatching the American Guards having covertly landed by a small patrol craft in a sheltered cove. The troops then empty the civilian boat of T-80s and a small but highly trained forces sets off into the night.

Against militia in the little towns towards the objective the human player would take his tank group and eventually to a wonderful bit where a road heads upon onto the high plateux in Malden (to the far West if I remember on the opposite side of Malden from the landing place - near Le Port if I remember correctly) where an American squad hold a fortified position.

Needless to say Operation Flashpoint sucked multiplayer and so for me Counter-Strike is the daddy of multiplayer FFS whilst Operation Flashpoint is the King of Single-Player.

P.S the music is also great for working out to!

Over-shadowed by BF1942???

Certainly not in my view and I've played both, BF1942 is a simplistic, unengaging "team fortress classic" with WW2 gear.

I agree completely. The great thing about Flashpoint is the realism, which of course means it's not a game where you'll shoot 500 enemies in a row by just keeping the finger on a button.
One single bullet can kill you, which demands much more than just jumping around.

I agree on the concensus that you can't compare Bf1942 and Ofp ,Bf1942 is more an arcade game with not much realism.(and the CS community suck's ,pesky bunny hopping wall hacking aim botting munchhole's)

I play Ofp primarely in Multiplayer ,and i like it a lot.You have to know a good server though. It helps a lot if youre in a clan if you wanna play mp.

I loved OpFP, I am not a big FPS fan, but this one was really quite fun. I enjoy FPS games that have more realism. And flying into helicopters with a plane was fun :p

To the untrained eye, they are similar - realistic FPS is historical (if you consider the 80s historical :crazyeye: ) settings, while being able to comandeer many vehicles.

Plus BF1942 seems to have better multiplayer.

Anybody of the ofp fans here know where i can find the addon used for this picture?
