The Legion of D'Tesh (Civilization Module)

Just an interest check, but would a version for FF or vanilla FFH be more appreciated? I'd like to continue work on this mod at some point but I think that two versions would be too much of a pain to upkeep. I'm actually leaning towards FF at this point, but I want to ask the community as well.

I'd prefer FF.

When I decided to go with just FF for the Scions the big reason was that, as far as I could tell, most of the people interested in a new civ were using FF already.

I'd like to see these guys in FF too.

What about Orbis :p?

Well, just from what I've noticed since coming, FFH2 seems to be more "stable" for modders, in that I havn't seen it updating as quickly. FF on the other hand I swear updated three times in one day at one point. XD[exageration I think] BUT I have two answers. On a personal level I hope you do it for FFH2, for some reason I have fewer crashes and less "Laggy" games [it's getting so bad that it even happens on the smaller maps now, damn my computer, for FF and to a lesser extent Orbis] but for the community? I'd suggest FF, most of the people that are looking for new civs happen to use it anyways, and I'd LOVE to see Scion vs Dtesh games and see how they match up. XD

I've been working on this for a bit and it's coming along nicely. Except for the art, I've pretty much laid the foundation for the civilization. All I really need to do is add the python parts (which I'm not even sure I want to do anymore).

Now I just have to find people willing to test and give feedback, after I release of course. :p

A few notes on modding in fall further: I love how promotions can be the workhorse of a modmod, they're so flexible. I haven't seen the aspect system but I've heard it's just as robust.

Oh yeah, a Scions vs. D'tesh Matchup would end badly for the D'Teshi player since the scion player's units are immune to death damage.

Ok, I've got the basic set up ready and all it needs is a cosmetic makeover so that all the units aren't humans and instead look undead. :P After this comes beta testing with willing posters and suggestion taking and general tweaking.

Notes on the new D'Tesh:

- Got an idea from the FF forum, pretty sure it was forum poster Mylon, to make them dependent on a terrain already in the game. I thought this was a cool idea and went with it, giving the Legion an affinity for desert terrain. Unlike the Malakim, the Legion can completely live in the desert with no outside help. This also freed me from having to add some messy python in order to change terrain to a generic and boring wasteland. Keep It Simple Stupid.

- I also gave them a unique worker with a clone promotion of Scorch in order to bypass the question of the Legion using good mana.

- I've also managed to keep the Legion completely within XML, which is mostly thanks to xienwolf and Vehem's promotion work.

Oh man... the Legion competing for dessert warfare with Malakim +. *Jawdrop*

Seriously though that's a fight I'd pay to see irl. XD

Prefferably from another continent.

Hey! Hey man, screw you! You ruined my dreams for the night.

[Just kidding, keep making good mods dude!]

Edit: "I. Like. To. Kill. People." You better get that quote man. XD

Back up your XML folder if you're worried about something going wrong but otherwise you can just C&P the assets folder into the Fall Further directory.

Note that all the art is stolen from the Infernals, I'll fix this at some later time. It's good enough of a placeholder for now. I really like the Duke Sallos picture and might just keep it as D'Tesh's leaderhead. :p

sweet thanks! I'll try this out now.
Err so this is still a module right?

It actually overwrites the files directly so no, it isn't a module. I didn't want to modularize it because eventually I will have to put python in for the razing and capture of cities and python can't be made modular.

:mischief:Yeah, it does look very good. Which reminds me, I'm curious about an urban legend and before I get in trouble, but is it true that if a modder or software designer doesn't code drunk, Bill Gates will have him arrested? :mischief:
