The new patch seems to have arrived

AIs will attack you if it sees your defenses. This is not a confirmed feature but well tested by myself and others.

AI appears to want to see your defenses first before attacking. It knows vaguely how powerful you are based on score rankings, but has no additional 'cheats' like they did in previous Civ games where they knew all your units, what they were, and where they were.

interesting...link to more information?

can't wait to get home and dl the patch!

I can link to testimonials, but suggest you try a game where you deny open borders to to your bordering AI civs, and see for yourself.

The new patch removed the "change written language" option, which is annoying since I can't play any mods that haven't been translated (which is 99% of them).
Now I see TXT_KEY_STUFF everywhere with mods :S

Best rate so far is 150 gold per luxury. Open borders still go for 50 gold. Haven't had the opportunity to trade lux for lux yet.

Wouldn't it be better if it was the old civ3 way? (i have never played civ4 so i don't know)

The price to open boarders should raise according to how many tiles you own compared to the other civ you re trading with, and vice versa. Also luxuries should become more expensive the more you acquire, so there will not be any more "fixed" prices (300 pre patch and 150 w/ patch).

Patch looks ok, no probies.

Steam is actually really comfortable! I think I will stick to this now.

BTW: It is possible to stop auto updating, for those of you how do no like this.....

Still at permanent peace in a saved game, don't know if the patch is supposed to fix already started games or not. Turns may or may not be faster, but at least I can scroll around the empire now since the screen doesn't hang. Also, alerts seem to appear in a certain sequence instead of all at the same time at the beginning of a turn. Workers are much different although I don't know how. They seem to be working in unison or something, and they move much faster when they travel it seems.

Is it just me or has the display of the food "circle" changed (in the city screen, of course)?

I think I remember that it slowly filled when you gathered your food.
Now it seems to be always full, in other words, it is completely filled by the green colour.
So no longer a graphical indication of how long it will take until you get a new citizen/city will be starving.

I can say more: I have a game that was created in a Regular edition ( so , no babylon ), played 50 turns in Deluxe edition and saved there under .20 that does not load in .62. Save is posted here

About the prompt... Mine works well and has two more options, besides the DX9 and 10/11 : Explore deluxe soundtrack and Explore behind the scenes video

The save file also crashes for me (1.0.0.62, Deluxe Edition). Some players are reporting on the 2K forums that all saves are crashing when loading on the Deluxe Edition, even if the save was created in 1.0.0.62. However, I haven't been able to duplicate that behavior.

civ3 AI priced lux based on need, but it also had an exponential happiness sytem because markets multiply happiness exponentially based on number of luxuries. Getting that last luxury usually generates a lot of happiness, so they are valued very highly.

I don;'t think it will work as well in Civ5, but they should make it so that lux over X happiness is valued at Y/A + B

X = arbitrary happiness cap ; here B is base cost, Y is value of extra lux to next GA, A is luxuries over cap +1

Because you pay for the maintenance of the unit on the way there? It requires a nearby city state being the one you want to gift to? Because you might be producing so many hammers that you can build a scout more than every turn? (not sure what happens to overflow exceeding the value of the unit:confused:) Because the city state might have already heaps of units crammed in its space, especially with all those scouts you keep gifting them? I actually tried this in a recent game and didn't find it very effective. Maybe I didn't have the right settings though.

On the way? No, you don't gift them by moving them to the city state, there's an option in the city state diplomacy menu, right below gifting gold. Instant (well, you get rid of the unit right away, 3 turns before the city state gets it), works anywhere.

Overflow SHOULD be handled ok, if you're worried either don't use the high-production city for scouts, or micro it to focus a bit more on gold. And in the current patch the city would have to produce more than 50 hammers per turn to get equal to a single scout per turn without overflow, because the 25% for wealth is the next best option now. (scout equals at least 13 gold when gifted, unless you're greece with Philantropy SP, I haven't tested how cheap the influence is in that case)

Updated to 1.0.0.62 on Steam and my saved game from 1.0.0.20 won't load either.
I am also running the Deluxe version.

[insert gripe] Was going for Utopia, Cultural, Domination and Space Race victory's, and was well on my way to winning them all too.
Yes, I'm severely disappointed.
Was to be expected though, time to move on.. [/gripe]

I think we have a loooooooooong way to go before the Ai will understand the combat system, very looooooong way, man....:cowboy:

Don;t want to read the whole ten, pages but After patching i notice the AI move a archer behind a city and attack, and pull back a spearmen/settler stack, I was force to pull back, becuase i took too much damage to my lead unit without enough support in postion, he then move the spearmen/settler stack lateral, but beyond view, not sure this is smart since his settler really should sit tight so that the spearmen could stay in reserve, better detter AI is here, how much better will require more testing

As well the AI attacks me in on the hill with my unit upgraded for combat. After that it moved a unit of archer in front of my spearman, very nice and smart move... As i say, if it look smarter, it is only "patch" effect, but on the player's delusions i fear....

For those of you who are using the deluxe edition and stuck unable to load your old saves, definitely hang onto them. The engineer from Firaxis just fixed the save I sent them as a test, so no doubt there'll be a fix along for everyone else shortly.

Now in the meantime, if you'll excuse me, I'm about to bugger off and finish my game!

I noticed when I start a game in the Future Era just for a change of pace to get to Nukes quicker, the whole map is revealed to me like what Satellites used to do in Civ III. This wasn't like that before. Was it part of the patch? I don't use any mods or anything. It must be because of the games I started pre-patch, just had the fog of war, now, the whole map is revealed. Just wanted to know.

I haven't had any loading issues post 1.0.0.62 with a new save.

2kGreg just posted an update at 2k forums about the issue. They found the issue and working on a hotfix but it won't be coming out today. NO ETA given yet but unlikely it would be out before monday.
