The official "looking for scenario"-thread!

Does anyone have, or even remember, an old (very old) Star Wars scenario set on Tattooine that had hires Star Wars units that were probably the first custom Star Wars graphics for Civ 2? I feel this is a longshot, but you never no with some of the scenario packrts on this forum.
Is this the one?

This isn't EXACTLY the one I was referring to, but it very much looks like a refinement by either the same designer or one inspired by them. Thanks for the help!

Hey guys,

As mentioned over in my super lost scenario search thread I figured we may as well bring this old official scenario request thread back to life as now after having my hands in so many old scenario website and private scenario collection jars I can hopefully help people find stuff. Plus judging by the discussion in Skulb's Star Trek thread last year it sounds like others might want to use this place too. So if people post elsewhere in the forum asking for stuff then just send them here this old official thread and I'll try to help. :)

eg regarding @Patine 's one..

9 years late lol but my work has lead to me finding and preserving these Tatooine mods that surely one of them is the one you were looking for mate:

Star Wars (Tatooine) Scenario v1.0 by Chris & Steve Walpole (MGE)
CivFanatics Downloads Area

Tatooine (Star Wars) Scenario v0.91 by Justin Giles (CiC)
CivFanatics Downloads Area

Star Wars Tatouine Scenario by J. Belanger (CiC) - French
CivFanatics Downloads Area

I've also found a crazy amount of other classic Star Wars scenario based in space or on Endor or on Hoth too should that be of interest to anyone...

Followers of my preservation work will know that for purely selfish reasons (I love them lol) I've mostly focused on fantasy and scifi scenarios however I've also preserved 7 super collections containing hundreds of historical scenarios so there's still every chance I may be able to help people find them too (especially if you know the file name or a place with a broken download link I can look at). :)

I've also got my own final list of stuff that I'm moving here from my other lost scenario thread. I've spent the last year or so trying everything and I've now exhausted all possible options with these! I've searched all remaining Civ2 website download areas, searched all Civ2 forum histories, searched Webarchive backups of civ2 sites, I've tracked down as many original authors as I can via forum accounts/emails/social media, I've posted about my list across many retro gaming sites that may have lurking classic Civ fans, and I've spoken with collectors I know. Fortunately all the crazy effort lead to some great successes and donations which you may have seen in my other thread with some great long lost scenarios being rescued, however there's still a few left. If you think you have a scenario from the below list on some old hard drive somewhere please let me know so we can get it rescued and publicly hosted on multiple sites for future safe keeping!

Latest version of missing scenario list & info from Blake's other lost scenario thread:
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

If people want to help but don't want to fluff about searching through your old collections looking for these scenarios then they are also very VERY welcome to donate their entire scenario collections to me to search for these lost scenarios in and also sort out and add to my main preservation project. I have setup some publicly accessible cloud storage with several gigabytes free that anyone can just drag and drop files into (literally it's that easy) so if you have an old CD or hard drive somewhere filled with scenarios from long gone websites and would like to donate please let me know and I'll PM you the link to my cloud. You will be publicly praised and credited for helping me or should you wish to remain anonymous that's no problem either. :)

One of the big Civ2 super sites still missing from the preservation collection is Whistler's (Kunal Shah) SidGames and it's hosted satellite sites like Civ2 Ziggurat, Jorrit's Civ2 Site, Markus's Ultimate/Planet Civ2, and Civ2 Scifilization which all had their own scenario collections with quite a few rarities that never made it to Poly or CFC. From what I can tell none of them survived Sidgames's rather sudden disappearance and webarchive didn't backup any of the downloads. Now that we've got Apolyton (& it's satellites), CivFanatics Atomic, and Dustin Dunns DSquared Zandanian League site it means SidGames (& it's satellites) really is the last super site missing from the Civ2 preservation project. So if anyone out there has content from those SidGames sites or a way to contact Whistler I'm all ears!!

MISSING:
  • Alpha Centauri Modpack v1.5 by Carlos Alb. Romero Díaz - AlphaC15.zip (795kb) Source1
  • German Babylon 5 by unknown - baby5.zip Source1
  • (Star Wars) Battle of Hoth by unknown – hoth.zip (1.55M) (not Brandon Dunaway or Blake ones) Source1

Hey guys I was wondering if anyone could help me find a scenario I played around ~15 years ago. The map was just Europe, and it covered the time period from WWI to WWII. Features I remember include yellow poison gas as a replacement for cruise missiles, ammunition factories replacing nuclear plants (with ammunition explosion accidents replacing nuclear meltdowns), and a technologies called 'Unrestricted Submarine Warfare' and 'Popular Culture'

I couldn't seem to find it when browsing the wiki, but I did notice that the unit and tile graphics are like 90% identical to what I see in Age of War (non redux), and the scenario covered a similar time period. One major difference between Age of War and what I'm looking for is that in mine the Empire of Austria Hungary is playable, with a light purplish/lavender color.

Unfortunately War scenarios are my weak point as I don't really play much so most of what I've tried came from the Scenario League wiki which you've already tried. However when I was doing my preservation work I came across countless world war scenarios in the backup collections so odds are you'll find your one in one of the super collections (listed at bottom of first post in this thread here ). However going through the super collections is like finding a needle in a haystack so hopefully one of the vets around here might know and save you some time... eg @JPetroski appears to love a good war scenario!

I took a look because I think I do remember there being more than one scenario that covered this time frame like Age of War, but I couldn't locate it on the different websites that still exist. Sorry :(

Edit - I wonder if it was a Michael Jeszenka scenario? Does that ring a bell? He had asked that his work be removed from websites, but he would often build scenarios as I recall that involved The Austro-Hungarian Empire (he was of Hungarian descent) and I believe he had built one that *might* be what you're talking about. You might try digging on the wayback machine/archives of Apolyton and searching for his name to see if it turns up any hints (of course I could also be way off).

I found a backup of his website when I did my lost Civ2 websites cataloging project here:
https://web.archive.org/web/19991001213420/http://www.jatek.net:80/civ2/no-frames.html

None of the downloads were backed up sadly but I can see from the descriptions that he did a Third Reich scenario that starts in 1940 and a alt Austrian Hungary war that started in 1860.. so neither include WW1. Although this was his site in 1999 so if he continued for more years making stuff that used to be hosted here then yeah I guess it still could be him!

Thanks for the ideas guys, I took a look at those collections but didn't get much luck. I did find a lot of interesting scenarios though.

Despite not finding it in the collections, seeing webarchive gave me the idea to look at civfanatics scenario download pages stored in webarchive from 2005. I was able to find the scenario! It's titled "History (Pre-WW1 Europe)"

Glad to hear you found it! :) The old CFC download pages are still online today (although they're more hidden now as @The_J was gonna convert them all over to the new system at some point) so if there's any downloads that didn't work on the webarchive version then I can see that scenario and its files on this page here:
