the oobs 3rd pitboss game (Warlords), 14 players

Game is down AGAIN! I must admit that I'm losing patience with this host.

ok, looks like it isn't civstats. Just to confirm: you did actually try connecting to the game, rather than looking at civstats and assuming it's down?

Yeah, you're not the only one losing patience... I'm the one who has to try to fix the problem!

ok, my new scapegoat: the wireless connection. So I'll try running a cable to the server instead and see how that goes.

I'll be home in a couple of hours and the server will be back up then. Mind you, it'll be down again in a few days since I'll be out of town.

I haven't missed five turns. I only missed two, and only because the server was down when I tried to connect. I usually only have a two hour window in which to take all my turns each day, and if the server isn't running, then I miss my turn.

Also, I just logged in, and it's making me go through he same diplo screens as last time I logged in, two turns ago, so I think that turn must have been lost on Oob's end somehow.

Yeah he said you had to retake your turn which is probably why i thought you didn't take it:p. Sorry about it beeing 3 not 5... Kinda hard to keep count without civstats.

game down again

In your quest for finding what is wrong i might have an idea. What exactly are your powersavingssettings? I've tried to run continuous programs on my laptop before and you do have to go in and specify that you basically never want anything more than screensaver turned on or it will disconect(sleep modus, turn off hard disk etc etc). You did have a laptop as a server right? Anyways there are certanly some settings for power over long time of inactivity for all sort of computers. Just an idea.

I'm pretty sure using wired instead of wireless has done the trick. Even when wireless has direct line of sight (as it does with my server), it still sucks.

Ahh right... remember seeing that. How long will it be down though?

soooo slow
