The Pre-Order Bonus Civ?

This is probably a way dumber question than I think, but I bought my game at EB Games (Gamestop in the states) and the advertisement says that I get a bonus civ or map or something? I checked my Steam account and there was no dowloads, I asked at the store where I pre-ordered it and they didn't have a clue. So is it already in the game and I just haven't found it yet or did I (and many others in Canada since my EB manager had no clue either) get screwed?

I am also leaving open the very real possiblility that I already have my bonus and I am as ******** as I think I am.

There is no preorder civ. Babylon is part of the Digital Deluxe edition.

You are entitled to a free map (if you preordered it). Gamestop should have given you a card with an unlock code with it.

Go back there and yell at them.

But the dood was kind enough to even look in his drawer of pre-order stuffs and found nothing and he had no clue about the pre-order bonus. I had to point out the advertisement on the back of a binder right in front of him.

Of course, he didn't know at first either that Gamestop wasn't getting the collector's edition when I asked why they weren't offering it.....

Thanks guys for all your help! I went back to my EB Games and told them what you guys said and it turns out they had put the cards in a different place and didn't find it right away (for some strange reason they were really busy that morning ;)).

But now I have a new problem.

I input the code into Steam and it said it was verified but I can't find where to download the Map Pack. I am new to Steam (created my account to activate Civ V) and read all the FAQs I could find, used the search function and everything, but the only thing I can find when I click on downloads is the option to play Civ.

I know this is an utterly noobish question and will be flamed eternally for this, but I really could use some help.

Steam will automatically download the map.

It will be found in:
Program files > Steam > steamapps > common > Civilization V > Assets > DLC > Maps

Restarting Steam should guarantee that it downloads any new DLC to which you are entitled. And to confirm that you have indeed unlocked it, click on "[Your account name]'s account" on the top right of the Steam window, it should list the DLC as a new acquisition.

Thank you so much for your help Zimbu! I found it in my Steam account but can't seem to find those folders on my pc. I'm using Windows 7. A search even for steamapps turns up nothing :'(

You might also want to check the Library > Downloads section to see if anything has been downloaded.

Edit -- Looks like you found it anyway. Cheers.

Just to be safe, is this the filename?

MediterrraneanCiv5Map

Just wanted to be safe since I don't seem to have the DLC folder under Assets.

To play these maps, go into Single Player, select Setup, and then Advanced Setup.

The map is located in the Map pull-down. =)

Thanks soo much, dshirk. I just wanted to make sure I had it since I only get one code and it gets wiped after one use.

I am confident I finally have everything set up and ready to go :D

Thanks again everyone! And sorry for the totally noobish questions :'(

It's all good. Check out Dale's map packs in the modding section as well. Very cool stuff.

I'm so afraid of mods that I never downloaded the official patches from 2k for Civ 4 :D As you can probalby guess, I don't know enough about the inner workings of my pc to take chances on that stuff.

Don't be paranoid, you will miss out on a lot of interesting and fun content, not to mention major bugfixes and balance tweaks.

It's important to have safe computing habits, but in my opinion you are going beyond that and actually hurting your own user experience.

EDIT: As always, if you need help with something, just post and we will help you.
