The presidency should be determined by means other than voting

He's propbably a lot smarter than you.

Bush? Smarter? :rotfl:

Everyone can see Cheney and Rice are running the show.

A series of tests of endurance, which include:

  • The egg toss
  • Hide and seek
  • A rythmic gymnastics competition
  • Synchronized swimming
  • Three-legged race
  • Civ IV multiplayer
  • Go Fish

and finally, the most dreaded of them all...
  • The coin toss!

i could see cheney more than rice, but rumsfeld is up there too

i dont really care though, if there is a just god we only have 2 years until those corrupt idiots are gone

edit: i didnt mean that they are in power, just rice is unlikely

I'll leave now. I'd rather not try to talk some sense into people like this. It's like talking to a brick wall. Just let the anti-Bush freaks cry, and call names like 4 year olds that does'nt get his way all the time. Seriously, grow up.

Okay, this garden needs a little pruning.

You wish to make sure a stupid, idiotic or incompetent knucklehead doesn't get into the White House? Well, guess what? The voters disagree on what constitutes stupid, idiotic, or incompetent.

You (yeah, you, the reader) believe X. Doesn't matter what X is. Maybe abortion or the 2nd Amendment or gay rights or more defense spending or whatever. When someone comes up to you and says they disagree with you about X, what's your reaction?

Most peoples' reaction to me is to try and convince me of X. After all, if I'm a smart and lucid person, I should reach the same conclusion on X that they did. I don't, and they usually have a fit.

When you get your hair in a twist wondering why some doofus you're arguing with refuses to see it you're way, just remember this: they think you're the one with the problem.

Since there's no universally recognized authority that decides who is right and who is wrong, the only thing to do is have a vote and let everybody voice their opinion.

Michael Douglas nailed it: the hardest thing about Democracy is standing up for the rights of people who drive you batty.

Hmmm, Ro-sham-Bo?

Given today's primary system in the U.S. candidates are already vetted out by their respective party power brokers. The general election is just a matter of voting ideology.

It should go without saying that it is not important for a President to be the smartest person that can possibly be found for the job or know about everything in depth from foreign policy to agriculture. That's why there's a whole branch of the federal government that is stocked with experts in the field. You really only have to have confidence in his ability to select highly qualified people to delegate his responsibility.

It is not that much of a ******** concept. I mean voting is pretty flawed because the masses are so easily manipulated. You are certain to get the most manipulative guy in but not the best. The whole system would have to be pretty good and assess criteria on a range of levels.

If it ain't vote why fix it? There has already been improvements made for the election. Electronic voting eliminates errors due to bad counting.

I think the present system where the Presidency rotates among the sons, and possibly the wives, brothers, and grandsons of former Presidents is just great! All power to the wealthy elites! ;)

I believe the presidency should be first determaned primarly though voting. But during the primaries, the presidenial canidate will have to take a mandentory IQ test to prevent another Bush-like president ;).

This might shock you and many others but Bush would pass an IQ test

Shock and horror:eek: Bush isn't actually that dumb stop the presses!

Yes it's like Stuarts and the Windsors but without the nasty beheadings!

  • Roosevelt: Wealthy
  • Truman: Humble beginnings
  • Eisenhower: Not sure, but Abeline Kansas isn't exactly a center of old money.
  • Kennedy: Wealthy
  • Nixon: Humble beginnings
  • Ford: Unsure, but I'd guess "middle class"
  • Carter: Ditto. I've never heard any reference to either Ford or Carter's families being fabulously wealthy.
  • Reagan: Humble beginnings
  • Bush Sr.: Wealthy
  • Clinton: Humble beginnings
  • Bush Jr.: Wealthy
  • Rice(Hey, there is hope): I'm not sure.

My point? Being born into wealth means nothing here in the USA. Hard work and perserverence will get you wherever you want to go, even to the Presidency.

The presidency should be determined by means other than voting

It already is.......

First one to call out "SHOTGUN OVAL OFFICE!!!" in the Senate gets to be president for one term.

Unless, of course, the president elect falls for the old "former-president-say-what?" trick before the enauguration
