...is that your rival civs rarely have anything worth trading for your hard-earned knowledge. I have a spotless rep (never broken any treaties, never razed any cities), and I can't get the Ottomans to buy any of my techs, no matter how advanced, for even 1gpt.

I'm guessing it's because they don't *have* 1gpt to spend.

People really like calling me Toyomo, don't they...? :hmm:

It's kind of catchy, makes you sound like the next generation of Japaneese sports car.

"Test drive the new 2006 Toyomo today, and drive away with just 2.1% financing."

My name is Misuzu on another forum (cough, Yuri, that maybe you should go back to, cough), and someone noted that it sounded like "Isuzu", the truck company. :D

Yes. I've estimated that the average thread in which both Tomo and myself post has a half-life of about 12 minutes, after which 50% of the actual content is pure spam.

Anywhoo: It does sometimes suck to be in the lead, because the AI suddenly has the uncontrolable urge to kill you, and it's hard to sell anything with no one else can afford to pay you.

Hey, we've both posted in this thread...

Being in the lead is better than being behind. Isn't the lead what everyone wants?

Moderator Action: Back to the topic at hand, please.

But Tomoyo is right. Move up to a higher level, and the AI will have the cash for GPT deals. Then you can enter a whole new type of war against the AI: Economic.

I believe my initial, joking posts were deleted from that one.

Of course you want the lead, but if it gets too comfortable then there's no challenge. There always has to be someone who's on the verge of taking everything you've worked so hard to build and tearing it appart, unless you can stop them. America needs its Russia, Rome its Carthage, England Its Germany, and Japan its China. Without some kind of rival, the game lacks any form of thrill. It just becomes mindless button-pushing.

The worst spot to get into is research leader and military loser, the AI seems to really want to walk all over you then.

Maybe have a Chieftain player play diety level? And consider how long they will last.

As long as the AI does not generate positive GPT, you cannot make him pay gpt. They simply won't go into negative income. This is also the reason why sometimes you can ask them to pay 65gpt and ressources and whatnot, but if you ask them for JUST 66gpt, they will refuse: this indicates they generate an exact 65gpt positive income, and are reluctant to go negative.

When you can strip evryone off their techs and gold and keep the lead up in a diff level, you generally are ready for a jump, buddy.
