Sory for the semi-rant, but I feel that this is necessary...

Wiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii!
To Hell with the 360 and the PS3, Nintendo has the knowledge, and brilliance to make a small, cheap system. It's quirky, yes, but Point and Click is the name of the game. If you are half decent with a mouse, then you will feel at home with a Wii controller.

I'll probably wait until SSBB comes out (If there are any Wiis still in stock), and I'll cross my fingers that Microsoft and Sony fall, so it'll revert to a Nintendo vs. Sega fight.

Didn't I hear that the PS3 would not have an online capability, in the same sense as the Xbox Live?

I dont think so, one the main points of free online is that paying for XboxLlive would eventually come to the price of ps3.

I'm a PlayStation guy, but $600 dollars is like robbing us. I'll get a XBox 360 and the game I've always wanted, Halo!

No not Halo! The most overated game of all time! If Sony is robbing you, well this is MS. BSOD and all....

Nope!

As a borderline Nintendo fanboy, I'll definitely take a Wii first (sorry, couldn't help it). After that, I'll just wait and see how the other two shake down.

After all, neither of the other two are doing anything really new or innovative, and neither have announced any games I find particularly interesting, though Sakaguchi's work on the XBox 360 will be worth watching.

Can't stand fanboyism these days - what the hell is the point of supporting the one console?

Anyway, I can't see myself getting a PS3 at all - Wii is the only one that's piked my interest so far. For the moment I'll stick with my PC :smug:

The prospect of 100% backwards compatability for the Wii is kind of interesting, but then again, I've got an emulator that can do the same thing.

But that would be 100% legal backwards compatability.

Emulators ARE illegal, right?

.......... maybe

It's only illegal if you don't own the actual game itself. after which you can legally own a ROM of it

Emulator programs themselves are legal. ROM ownership is legal so long as you posess the original cartrage of the game itself.

^^^ What they said.

It's the people out there downloading and using emulators illegally that give it a bad name.

While fanboyism (blind, excessive support of one company) is indeed foolish, there are a few good reasons to support one console. For example...
1: Money. Buying all three would be very expensive, especially early on.
2: Games. Unless someone's really a hardcore gamer, or they bought the "loser" of the generation, just one console will usually provide enough entertainment value on its own. My GameCube alone kept me happy until just the last year or so, when I also got a PS2.
3: Sentiment. Hey, I like Nintendo, so why wouldn't I show some support? I do the same for my favorite sports teams and such. Again, blind fanboyism is bad, but it's human nature to pick out a personal favorite and support it.

The North American gaming industry is in decline. My faith is still in Japanese consoles but I'll wait to see what the PS3 is all about once it hits the market.

If I know for sure it will play imports then I'm rushing out to get it asap and importing all my games.

I will never bow down to MSXBOX or just be glued solely to my PC.

It's a bargin only as long as Blu-Ray wins the DVD wars..... and even then. Only the EXTREME techno-kiddie will want a blu-ray player RIGHT NOW. For people with a passing interest they'll wait for the price to plummit, just as normal DVD's did.

I think the Xbox has gone the right way about it. they've put in an original DVD player into their system with an external HD-DVD which can be added later.

Everything seems to rest on the blu-ray. If it wins, then Sony will be laughing, if it looses then the PS3 will bomb and take the type of share values with it that make Japanese stockbrokers jump from very tall buildings.....
you under estimate sonys fan base....
this ps3 will sell. when it finaly does hit the shelves people will buy so many of them it will be the x-box360 craze all over again:lol:

Hmm, once the PS3 is released the PS2s are going to be really cheap, and there are tonnes of good games for them!

I'm sticking to PC though.

But I love how Nintendo does backwards compatibility with the Gameboys! And that's another bonus for the Wii for sure.

I'm not underestimating the fan base. The simple truth is the PS2 cost what? £200 - £300 when it came out. and the PS3 will cost £400 - £600? Thats a big ass jump for a games console

I'll prolly end up getting a PS3 sooner or later, but I won't be jumping out to buy one immediantly.

The Wii doesn't have anything that overly interests me (I'm sick and tired of seeing Mario and Zelda.. my god. Retire the damn characters already). The same goes for the 360. The only games I wanted that came out for the original XBox was the KOTOR series and Halo. KOTOR I just bought for my PC, and UT2004/Half-life etc. was a hell of alot better than Halo. Halo 2 was just awful, so I'm not even bother getting a 360 for just Halo 3.

The PS3 will sell, for the same reason why people buy a Viper instead of a Civic.
