... okay Ill source it... but this site changes CONSTANTLY... so I cant tell you if its still there... but here it is... http://www.cnn.com.... ...ooo yeah look up ahead...

All I see is a link to CNN? I could say that Texas isn't a state, and Fox News Source source it anywhere in the World. SO, you have no source and no evidence, you're a joke.

OK kids come on, play nice, with all the rumours flying around about the PS3, it's understandable there some confusion over the price. Sony have to drop the price IMHO but I think they're going the odd way about it. In Japan their main rival, the 360 hasn't really taken off (despite MS's efforts) where as it's more successful in Euro-America so dropping the price HERE where it will be harder to sell seems like the best idea because when it opens in Japan it'll have an open market pretty much.

One thing that is certain is that regardless of any factors, when the PS3 comes out it will be the most expensive console on the market and with the average age of gamers rising from the pre-teens with the NES to around the 20-30 market it's at today, it does have the potential to succeed as gamers who live on parental pocket money are so not gonig to be able to afford this. I just think that it's going to be too expensive even for them. My first computer cost around the same as what they're asking for a PS3 and it could do so much more. I think the PS3 'may' succeed, I've thought about it, and it's a *****in system so it will sell BUT it will be a slow runner, a great majority of people will wait for more games to come out for it before investing, who wants a computer system with only a hardfull of games?

Opinions?

Do you know how to read? You should, since you're in "college." Anyways, if you read that, the price will go down, in Japan.

Here's a review for you:

Summary, since you obviously can't read. You don't live in Japan, you pay $600.
...like omfg... I guess I didnt read that... oh wait I did you <Cant say because of trolling>... I know the price will go down in ONLY Japan but the Internet is full of possibilities... But... look at this... wait Ill get the link...

Yes you could get an import. but would you not then be forced to only buy import games? If the games are Blu-rays then they will be region specific and I don't think you'll be able to chip it right away. So unless you want a Japanese dictionary at your side getting an import may not be the best.

If you wish to be pedantic, eventually the price WILL go down, but it may be after release, that is why I think everyone has chosen the 'wait and see' option. If you wish a PS3 right away, expect to mortgage your house, if not, you can wait maybe 6 months, a year and then buy a cheaper version but it may be some time before the price comes down, the 360 hasn't become cheaper yet and that's been out for about a year

According to the November issue of OPM (Official Playstation Magazine) only 500,000 units will be available for the November 17 launch.

100,000 units will be available in Japan with the balance in North America. Europe will receive their shipments sometime in March of 2007.

Furthermore, Japanese retailers will be allowed to set their own pricing! So if a store owner thinks he can sell a unit for 1000U.S. then he can!

I'm definately waiting to see what happens here in North America.

set their own pricing? really? wow, the thing is, they probably WILL charge that much because despite the price, there are people out there who simply MUST have the latest toys and gadgets

No my friends the games will be region free. Meaning he will be able to play a game from any part of the world. Movies will still have region protection though.

heh oh yeah, I apologise, I should have known that. so I'm assuming the games will have the ability to change their language?

I dont know that, but he'll be ale to play American games with a Japanese console.

heh awww man I can't believe I didn't piece that together. Studying just turns my mind to mush. I retract my previous statements. stupidity on my part.

Does anyone know a good site for buying import consoles and games? Not Ebay? I'm looking to buy an America SNES
