The Queen Mother dies

   :( :(

This news, although expected eventually, is still extremely sad. :(

Every day in the UK about 2000 people die...as Eddie Izzard said "...when my mother died nobody gave a ****" but if it is a Royal...

She will be remember by how she liked her egg in the morning...

Well, at 102 it's hardly tragic, but it's still a loss for the whole commonwealth.

She and George made the first visit to Canada by the reigning monarch.

Down goes the flag to half-mast yet again...

I take a positive view. If people die young before their time;
it is tragic; but after living to 100; there is no reason to be sad.

Hurray for good Queen Bess!

We have had three really great ones!

as an anti-royal family person i couldnt give a toss

i agree to much is being made of this there disrupting everything for 1 persons death

Whether you are anti-royal or pro-royal, she was a human being who will be remembered by many people for many things, not least for the way she gave support to the British people during World War II. When you die, how will people remember you? What legacy will you leave to the world?

Well she was born into the charmed life, it would have been more of a story if she earned her fame rather than having it handed to her on the silver platter.

Still, quite a bit of history goes with her passing, I suppose.

Whether she was royal or not, doesn't really matter...she lived to 100+, she had it good. :goodjob:

Not to be insensitive to dieing, I feel for the family, and can only imagine how hard it is to lose a family member, but I look towards death as not a bad thing but a part of a cycle. (in the words of DDP "It's not a bad thing....It's a good thing!")

Another annus horribilis for the Royal Family. :(

Gee, I could see the Sex Pistols quotes coming from a mile away.

Would it be too much to ask for a modicum of decorum, and some respect for a dear departed grand old lady who was and is loved and respected by millions? Would it? Would it be too much to ask for a skerrick of decency?
You are under no compulsion whatsoever to comply, but I'd hope that you could maybe find it in you to withhold the diatribes of whatever nonsense, and just allow mourning and the commemeration of a truly great life...

Yes Simon, sadly it probably will be too much to ask. Such is the world we live in.:(

Though I'm generally anti-monarch, I feel bad for the death of the Queen Mum -- her courage during World War II helped rally the nation, rather than flee to the other Commonwealth states.

But what they did with Diana, though...

She married into money, and they celebrate that?
