Thanks about the heart attack thing.

Well, I'm still here, and I don't hear Three Dog on the radio so I guess we must have made it. :p

Seriously though, internety people were like "Wow we just Rickrolled everybody! Pwned!" And everybody else was just like meh.

NOt to mention the fact that The Macy's Parade is not watched by the whole country.

AND WHAT'S WITH THE THREE DOG NIGHT INSULT?! I saw them at the State Fair in 1990, they rock!
I haven't. My posting style is quite conservative.
If you get one now for confirming a lack of of mod action, which might be construed as PDMA, I am soooo going to laugh!! :D

Three Dog is the name of a radio DJ in the game Fallout 3, which takes place in a post-nuclear war Washington DC. I know nothing about the actual musical group Three Dog.

The rules say mod actions, not mod inaction. :p

What happens if someone default's on their student loans after they finish uni?

If it is still possible after the bankruptcy reform, you have a hard fight ahead of you.

was it just a myth when I heard that the Ottomans were known as "ottomans" because during Roman occupation, the turks were used as footstools, thus the name "ottoman"?

it seems like something that CAN be true, but probably isn't... I just wanted to know if anyone here knew for sure

Wasn't the Ottoman Empire established long after the fall of Rome?

Anyways, I wiki'd Ottoman Empire and it came up with this:

Rise (1299–1453)

Main article: Rise of the Ottoman Empire

With the demise of the Seljuk Sultanate of Rūm (circa 1300), Turkish Anatolia was divided into a patchwork of independent states, the so-called Ghazi emirates. By 1300, a weakened Byzantine Empire had seen most of its Anatolian provinces lost to ten Ghazi principalities. One of the Ghazi emirates was led by Osman I (from which the name Ottoman is derived), son of Ertuğrul in the region of Eskişehir in western Anatolia. Osman I extended the frontiers of Ottoman settlement towards the edge of the Byzantine Empire. He moved the Ottoman capital to Bursa, and shaped the early political development of the nation.

EDIT: I also wiki'd "Ottoman (furniture)":

The word ottoman was introduced into English in the "footstool" sense in 1806 (probably from the identical French word, which also denotes a type of textile fabric), because the ottoman's typical use in a reclining position was associated in Europe with the Orient, in line with fashionable Turkish influence since the early 18th century (when the Balkans were still partially under Ottoman rule). It is not supposed to have been invented by the Ottoman Turks (compare divan). The word Ottoman as associated with the furniture used as a footstool is widely believed to have come about in the late 18th century when Egypt, then a part of the Ottoman Empire, was invaded by the French. This invasion included physical punishment to include "pain walks" (loosely translated) - because of these walks Ottomans soon thereafter fashioned footstools to rest their tired extremities. These footstools later became widely popular in Europe and the term 'Ottoman' was coined to give tribute to the furniture's origin.

No. It comes from the name Osman, which is why in many languages they are known as "Osmanli" (or Osmanl-and the I without a dot character specific to Turkish). :)

I guess it is because the television has an electrical charge, as electrons are fired at the screen. That is why it makes a buzzy noise when you put your hand over it, and it feels a bit tingly. In the old TVs anyway... I've never noticed my LCD TV to do that.

Another thing I noticed about the TV (it is a CRT) is after it's been off for a while it makes a bump kind of noise. I guess that's something to do with it cooling?

there are parts inside a CRT TV that get very hot. They'd burn you if you touched them. So there is a cooling period. and whenever you get that, you might get some noise as things expand and contract due to the heat.

A lot of people have been saying "The road to hell is paved with good intentions" lately, and I want to know what your deal is. Like somebody will say "I think bla bla bla donutos the right thing to do!" and then the other person says "the road to hell is paved with good intentions". WTH? Are you saying we shouldn't have good intentions? Are you saying we shouldn't do what we think is right?
