What does "doubly degenerate" mean in reference to electron orbitals?

If I have 200mL solution that is 5% sulfuric acid by mass, how do I calculate the mass of the sulfuric acid?

I researched the density of sulfuric acid at 1.84 times that of water.

I then assumed I had 190g of water and 10g of sulfuric acid. Dividing 10g by 1.84 and adding 190 means the volume of these liquids is 195.435ml.

Dividing this into 200ml gives a correction factor of 1.0236. Multiplying both quantities by this keeps them in proportion of mass. I now have 194.438g of water and 5.435g of sulfuric acid.

Their total mass is 204.67g and their total volume is 200ml.

What's the name of that annoying "straining" sensation you get in your muscles if you work out too much or make a lot of effort without being warmed up before? The aching sensation caused by tensing the muscles after such an effort.... what's the name of it?

I tried 8 expression dictionaries from Romanian to English and none gave me an answer. At least I made sure the English name doesn't resemble our expression at all. :p Still richer in knowledge than I was.

Not sure we have a specific term. Perhaps Romanian could enrich the english language?

Hmm.... No, it's neither a side stitch or a cramp (or "charlie horse" as UB calls it).

Let me give you an example:
- you train for a physically-demanding task, say that you need to do 60 correct push-ups to pass
- anxious to get to that limit, you do more than you normally can
- first the "shaking muscle" feeling kicks in, then the next day or after a number of hours, the sensation I'm talking about starts to "show its teeth"
- the sensation is characterized by pain when using the muscles you overworked... like after you do more push-ups than you normally can, you'll be in pain whenever you use your triceps. Just taking the pressure off those overworked muscles will fix it, for the moment, it's not a long lasting pain - it lasts exactly as much as you use those muscles. After 2-3 days it's gone completely, usually.

Happens VERY often to most people when hiking with a heavy backpack... as you overwork the various muscles in your feet, and then you have a hard time walking for a few days.

We call it "muscle fever" (febra musculara). Seems like a very reasonable and rather intuitive name, which is why I presumed English must have some name for it too. If it doesn't, I'd be more than happy to "donate" the expression to English. :D

Actually, that's a better word than all so far...

Edit:
Hahahaaaaaa http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Delayed_onset_muscle_soreness I found the name apparently.
From the article "also sometimes called muscle fever".
 So I could have simply translated the expression from my language and used it and it would have been fine.

Thanks guys. And CCR for giving me the idea of googling "muscle soreness". :D

Well how would you describe DOMS then? :p I couldn't think of a better way. :D

oh, well... DOMS just seems to be a more formal way of saying "fatigue"

you described it fine, just..... who has ever heard of DOMS?
I'd just use the word fatigue because it means soreness and lack of capability to do work because of strains received when doing work. (at least how I've always been taught it)

I see. :) Well here it's a reeeeaaaally common expression, it's one of those things that I've known for so long that I can't even remember when I used it the first time, not when I heard it the first time. It's like what a parent would tell a really young child... "don't drink too much water or you'll need to pee, don't play football for 3 hours straight or you'll get "muscle fever"". :)

:lol::lol::lol:

never heard either of those two expressions.

I feel deprived :p

how can you make your computer like brand new? I.E get rid of everything.

Insert the windows disk, format the hard drive and reinstall from scratch.

Ideally have another computer with internet at hand in case it turns out you need a file from the wibbly wobbly web before you have got that far. Dont get stuck in a chicken and egg situation.

All being well it should take 2-4h, mostly of just pressing return every ten mins.
