Why call it the 'simple past' when it's called the perfect tense in English too? I had written the perfect tense, but I was writing the imperfect when I took a drink.

Apparently his teacher believes it is simpler to use a helping verb + generally consistent modification of the original verb than it is to use the usually more irregular imperfect...?

It's not teaching the perfect first that I'm questioning, it's inventing a whole new name for it when one already exists that's the same in both English and the language being taught.

What are points on the driving test? I just took a three hour session (nearly perfectly I might add) with an instructor guy and he kept talking about how certain things are this many points off on the test

Example: "It's a good thing you remembered to signal. If you forget it's four points off"

WTH? I thought the test was just do it pretty much perfect or you fail. Are the points percentages? How many points do you need to pass?

Does a person who lives in the US with a greencard and loses his job lose his premit of residence as well?

Is it physically possible for two people to be half-brothers and fraternal twins at the same time?

Yes, although no artificial fertilisation clinic would use different sets of sperm to fertilise the numerous eggs they implant.

How do you pronounce "Words are pronounced exactly the way they are spelt"?

Yeah, I finished my driving test in about 15 minutes. I backed into a garbage can while parallel parking, but I still passed! I dont know how many "points" off that is.

Could this be in any way connected with the awful level of fatalities on US roads? A far tougher test in the UK and far lower levels of fatalities, including per mile driven. The Fins seem to have a completely insane test.
