Association. Coffee wakes you up in the morning a lot faster than you metabolise caffeine, because your brain associates the bitter taste and smell with wakefullness.

It's a short connection between the v and the y. The "l" is also pronounced towards the back of the throat than is used in english, I think

Decaffeinated coffee still contains some caffeine, but less than normal coffee. Decaf. tea is the place to be.
