Is the river in Proud Mary Mississippi, and is "You don't have to worry cause you have no money, people on the river are happy to give" correct description of it's populace?

What is the typical July-August weather like in Ulverton, UK? It is NW of Manachester.

Anybody here taken AP Computer Science?

Did you take any other computer classes before that? What are the pre-requisites? Do you have to be some kind of computer geek able to understand various computer languages and stuff?

yours truly,

So I'm listening to Enrique Iglesias or however you spell his dumb name 'cause my girlfriend loves this song of his entitled "Dimelo".

I did some looking up and the best definition I got was Dominican slang which is a greeting, like "Hello."

Does anybody actually walk around saying "Dimelo" to people? Where would you actually see that happening?

OH

The song makes more sense now.

Do you just want to translate it for me, I'm scared of the terrible translations I'll get off the Internet now. :(

Dímelo tell it to me
Tú dímelo you, tell it to me
Dímelo tell it to me

¿Dímelo por que estas fuera de mi? tell me why you're away (literally: outside of) from me?
Y al mismo tiempo estas muy dentro and at the same time, you're very close (literally: deep inside)
Dímelo sin hablar y hazme sentir todo lo que yo ya siento tell it to me without speaking and make me feel everything that I can already feel

Después yo te veo y tú me miras later, I see you and you look at me
Y Vamos a comernos nuestra vida and lets go eat (lol, what?) our lives
Yo no voy a conformarme inventándote I'm not going to conform myself inventing things to myself
Siempre ha sido así It's always been like this (or is it "that"?)
Por que yo no puedo despegarme de ti because I can't get away (literally: unglue myself) from you
Cuanto más quiero escaparme más me quedo The more I want to escape, the more I stay
Mirándote a los ojos sin respirar Looking at you in the eyes without breathing
Esperando un solo gesto para empezar Waiting for a signal to begin

¿Dímelo por que estas fuera de mí? tell me why you're away (literally: outside of) from me?
Y al mismo tiempo estas muy dentro and at the same time, you're very close (literally: deep inside)
Dímelo sin hablar y hazme sentir todo lo que yo ya siento tell it to me without speaking and make me feel everything that I can already feel

Dímelo suave Tell it to me softly
Dímelo fuerte tell it to me harshly
Dímelo fuerte tell it to me harshly
Dímelo suave Tell it to me softly
Dímelo por fin de una vez finally tell it to me in an instant

Me gusta de ti lo mucho que me gustas
What I like about you is how much I like you

Y que poco me perdono dentro de mí and how little I forgive myself [inside myself]
No tenemos nada que perder we don't have anything to lose
Y tenemos demasiado que vivir and we have to much to live [for]

Dímelo tell it to me

Si yo no quiero o lo quiero dímelo y después olvídate de todo If I don't want or I want it tell it to me and then forget about everything

Quiero I want

Las buenas nuevas siempre son así The good new ones area always like that (or is it like "this"?)
Y las malas que se alejen de mi and the bad ones stay away from me

¿Dímelo por que estas fuera de mi? tell me why you're away (literally: outside of) from me?
Y al mismo tiempo estas muy dentro and at the same time, you're very close (literally: deep inside)
Dímelo sin hablar y hazme sentir todo lo que yo ya siento tell it to me without speaking and make me feel everything that I can already feel

Se repite coro (chorus repeats)

dimelo, dimelo, Dimelo Tell it to me x3

Se repite coro 2 veces (chorus repeats twice)

It's very likely that it is.

Don't count on it. Maybe 30 years ago it may have been partly true.

Yes.
Yes.
Nothing.
No.

I just realized I don't know what you mean by "AP".

I used to teach an entry level computer science lab class. Some of my students had never touched a computer before.

AP means "Advanced Placement" so it probably does require pre-reqs, but it would most likely vary somewhat from school to school (I don't even know what it is for my school, but you might be able to find out if your school has a web-site or literature that deals with that type of issue).

Can anyone guess why I'm extremely happy as of yesterday evening? Since you can't, I shall tell you. I got Tandy's Deskmate software to work in DosBox, and I can listen to my 104 songs I composed circa 16 years ago! It's totally sweet! And at least 34 of those songs are very good too.

Where did you get that info?

First you have to answer some questions.
Are you Christian?
Do you pray everyday?
Do you go to church twice a week at least?
Are you white?
Is your life guided totally by Jesus?
Do you hate brown people and fags?
Do you believe the South will rise again?

If you answered all of those questions yes, then yeah you should be fine... If you answered any no, or had to think about it then, nobodies is gonna' give a crap if you die.

At least that's the general feeling of the deep South, not sure how it applies to the parts along the river specifically.

How much time have you actually spent in the South, much less the Deep South? I'm genuinely curious as to whether you're relating personal experience, or just bigoted stereotypes. I'm pretty sure it's the latter, but if you have a case to make that you really know what you're talking about, let's hear it.

I thought nc-1701 lived in Georgia!

Which one, A, B, C, D, or E?!

If corn oil is made from corn, what is baby oil made from?

Godwynn speaks the truth. I've lived in semi-rural Georgia for 2 1/2 years.

Now I freely admit I was exaggerating somewhat. But all of those stereotypes do come from real views of real people who live here. People seriously do look down on you here if you are not a practicing Christian. Even my friend who is Catholic is generally looked down at as not being a real Christian. People generally aren't out-and-out racists, but they are very biased, they just won't say it outright. I know a friend of my Mom's was horrified that my Mom was going to be at a Farmers market thing in a relatively nice middle class part of town. Leaving her totally confused, until she realized it was also an almost entirely black section of town.
Religion is seriously a cornerstone of many peoples lives here. If you ask them what they're doing Wednesday night many people will be offended. Confederate flags may not be in front of every house, but I do see them fairly often. Drop Obama's name and you'll here about how he is awfull, because he is a Muslim. Pickup trucks with gun racks in the back window are a common site. Along highways billboard signs with religious messages are everywhere... If you ask someone for directions to somewhere they will tell what church it's near, yes I'm serious about that.
I can give more examples if you need me too...

So yeah this place has moved forward a bit since the civil war. But it's still really an embarrassment to the rest of the country, at least the parts of it I've seen.
