When you see a new edition of textbook it generally says revised and updated.
Revised being that it was changed a bit. Updated for more recent examples or statistics.

Thanks for the suggestion, but I'm more interested in what term might be applied to novels or legal documents. The process here is not to update the content as such, simply make it more readable to a modern audience.

Many doctors don't like telling people to go home and stay in bed for a couple of days.
They will prescribe for the sake of it and make drugs generally less useful.
