Would you like to read movie threads without a chance to glimpse a spoiler? Would you like to be able to hide an answer to a problem you wrote so people can think about it before answering? All this and more are just some of the many many valualbe reasons to use invisatags!

What is an invisatag you ask? It's a tag that makes you text the background color so that people won't see it until you highlight it.

You may now commence worshipping the idea and its creator!

:worship: But the only reason I can think of is to avoid the ten character rule. :hmm:

The odds of you getting this are slim. No real pratical use since it would require other users to use the tag to make the things spoiler proof, and theres no promise that will happen.

When I make a movie thread, then I'll announce it in the first page!

Final Fantasy Insider (http://forums.ffinsider.net) has a similar tag,
Spoiler :
(spoiler stuff
, except instead of making it invisibile, it replaces it with a button. They're running some version of vBulletin too, so it's obviously implementable.

Ah... Good idea. I'm pretty sure that can be done.

Or it could be made black text, with a black background behind just the text.

The Last Conformist, that is a good idea.

But Apolyton has just one skin, correct?
If we had the same background on all the spoiler boxes we wouldn't have to worry about skins.

T'is a good idea, though it could be made so that invisible text shows only after the member has posted a reply. That's a lot of extra effort, but doable.

That would be as easy as adding another colour to the boards.

<span style="color:red;background-color:red;">colour</span>.

Why would people want to read the spoiler after replying? You might be posting to say that you haven't seen the film yet but you plan to...

Don't reply then. If you haven't seen a movie, and don't want to know the details of it, why are you in the discussion?

That would require quite a bit of programming, encourage spamming (yeah, I see the irony), and I think would be of limited use.

Perhaps you want to ask a certain specefic question like, "what's the premise?" or how is Balf Bibblebax's acting?

There will always be reasons, I just don't see why it would be preferable to add a more complex system when people would now have to post to read spoilers which would probably increase spam with people just posting to see what has been hidden whilst other serious replies would open up information which they wanted to avoid.
