The story of a fiasco

Why this thread still exists? It should be merged with Civ5 rants thread.

Fabiano79:

It's more like, "If you're going to go on and on and on about the same complaints in every thread on the forums, please confine it to the one thread." Nothing wrong with constructive criticism in the spirit of "This is a plausible patch change that would improve the game." I've participated in many such threads and have been gratified to see changes in patches that reflect what WE have been discussing. I flatter myself to think that those changes have improved the game substantially.

My point is that if you dont like to read "rants" you can just ignore the post. Theres no need to "confine the unhappy plp".

Rants are a way to vent frustration (an ineffective way).
The OP, though venting, opens discussion on the autoupdating problem.
I don't personally like losing invested playtime in broken saved games.
Nor do I enjoy waiting for the update before I can play again.
The offered solutions don't work very well, so I offer this advice ...

... To the best of your ability accept the situation for what it is.
... Autoupdating will interrupt your play.
... Savedgames will be abandoned.
... In the future, updates to either Civ5 or Steam may change the playing field.
... Don't be afraid.
... Insight into a problem can relieve frustration.
... ... Forums allow other players to offer you insight.
... and the most important tip I can offer,
... ... have FUN 8)

Moderator Action: Please stop arguing over where 'rants' should go. If you have a problem with a post, then report it. Do not tell people where they should or shouldn't post. If you don't like this thread, you're not obliged to read it or post in it.
