First things first:
Battle Stats:
Units victorious while attacking : 46
Units victorious while defending : 21

Units destroyed: 67
Units lost: 29
Kill Ratio: 2.31:1
Not too bad I think. Could've been better though because I lost two or three units (and a fresh GG Gunship sadly) to total
moves.
Anyway, on with the show.
First Gandhi stopped by and told us that we no longer may travel through his lands. Well, if you say so...
Checked the power graph. We're close to Louis. Okay *takesdeepbreath*. Let's go.
I dialed up Louis and asked if he could spare 1500 of his 1720 gold for a good friend. And he agreed ! Nice of him to finance our troop upgrades... And as a good friend - such as Brutus - we told him some news...
First stage of the war plan was carried out ruthlessly:
I then ripped up the roads in our DMZ with Gunships as Bombers couldn't do it. However I didn't go for abandoning Madrid and the other cities. Mech Inf are godlike city defenders, and as Louis still has only Tanks, Gunships and Artillery, I thought he should pay a high toll for capturing these cities. So I used some gold to upgrade Redcoats to Mech Infs. And sure enough Louis came for Madrid...
Meanwhile I was easily capturing more cities:
Louis began the affray on Madrid in earnest, he was bringing some real force.
However he shattered the heads of his soldiers against the Mech Inf at Madrid, enough to put a dint into his power:
Seeing that Louis' troops wouldn't even come close to Cordoba and our DMZ I re-arranged the Bombers and our Gunships to Cordoba. This allowed heavy airstrikes against the advancing forces at Madrid. Unfortunately I couldn't reach the 2nd stack yet...
Murcia fell next turn, this time a keeper.
On the other continent we captured Miami.
Valladolid was put to the torch too. Unfortunately I made a weed move here losing our fresh GG Gunship - I had not realized I could've attacked with a fresh Gunship out of Cordoba instead until it was too late...

Louis is sending Subs towards us. Also you can already see our new shiny MAs...
I've assembled the Artillery at the front line already, the MA can join next turn.
Izzy's cities are weakly defended. A spy is stationed near Madrid to give us intelligence on troop movements.
We have left some marks already. I think with Bombers and MA we will subdue Louis quickly. The next player will have a pure fun turnset - I've set up everything for the counterattack !

Uhhhmmm....I'm gonna need a skip ... my laptop slows down toooooo much loading this game. It took 10 minutes just to load the game up, I can only imagine how long each turn's going to take. So skip me til my new laptop/PC arrives in a couple of weeks.
After looking at the save, all seems very well.
I would took the time to raze Barcelona (we dont need it, and its culture will annoy us). Other than that i would head straight to Paris.
We must check the domination limit and not keep too much cities, because we still need to whack the Americans

Update. A big storm knocked out the power last night. It didn't come back on until this morning. Playing tonight.

Holy Moley! I just played five turns (all I'm gonna play) and it took me 2.5 hours. Modern warfare is so much fun, but it's so damned draining. I'll put up a report tomorrow early.

To start things off, a bunch of folks want our stuff. I denied all trades and stopped taking screenies after the first couple.
Louis tried his own mini D-Day. Fortunately, half of our navy was sitting in Ghuzz. I whiped this task force out without losing a single ship.
Immy was right. This was a steam roll...
This was ironic. Louis' golden age has definitely ended. (Also note the loss of a great general in defense. Perhaps I was over-extending, but Louis' back is pretty much broken. This was one of maybe three of four troops I lost this set.)
Lastly, we birthed a new general. I merged him with an archer and took the free upgrade to mech infantry.
I've done a bunch of recon. Louis still has a ton of artillery sitting in his top 5 cities. I don't know why he hasn't brought them to the front. Still, our bombers are knocking everything of his down to 50% strength before we kill it. It's a good system.
Oh...PS...I have a settler just arrived in Madrid and a couple of others in the pipe. I want to get our entire continent under our yoke before some smartass settles a whole we left.
