The Tribal Elders of Delphi

CaesarKyros was in power, and he would rule with an aggregated diamond nanotube fist.

He quickly began with starting construction of a shrine to get a pantheon. Meanwhile, his only battalion of spearmen were getting surrounded, and had to retreat into the forests. Many miles to the west, near the mountains, the lone settlers dared to move to the top of a hill, but Luck was not on their side because there was a barbarian camp at the foot of the hills! OR WAS IT(luck, not the barbarian)? For some strange reason, the barbarians let the settlers go without capturing them. Not willing to take a chance and move the settlers forward, CaesarKyros moved the newly finished warriors forward and the settlers back. The mighty Shoshone empire offered a trade of embassies, so we can now see most of our immediate area. Filthy barbarians appeared at the borders of Delphi Nova and our workers were forced to retreat to safer lands while another barbarian warrior appeared.

So, advisor council members, debate over the next five turns. remember this:
Rasputin- Expansion and growth (I assumed that this is what a cartographer would do)
cpm- Engineer and Land Unit commander
Dostayer- economics and trade
mrkingkong- Science and Naval commander
Religion and culture- everyone until someone wants the job

I have no clue how to add images as spoilers, so this is the best I can do.

We need to found a new city ASAP, but it looks like we also need to take care if barbarians first.
If we have gold, I'll suggest to buy archers...

Hello, everyone. I'd like to claim the open title of Advisor of Religion and Culture as "landlubber the inspired". For now, I agree that we need archery and that we need to beef up our military quite substantially. I would say that we need to call the spearman back home as soon as it can get past the barbs; we can worry about revealing those few remaining tiles in the far west side of the continent later.

Also, we do have that new policy coming up in just a few turns. As the chief source on culture, I'd like to humbly suggest that we adopt Legalism, so our new city would have a monument immediately and without maintenance.

Welcome, landlubber. :)

I second the idea of heading for Archery after writing. I think this would lead more quickly to our UU, and this would not be a bad thing (as we are close to some civs with powerful early units). Especially if we are producing some archers too over the next few turns-> perhaps an early war would not be a bad idea. Plus- boy do I hate Rammy of the Siamese!

Your grace, where is the intended destination for our second city? It would be nice to grab the wondrous effects of mount Kailash, but if we decide not to settle there immediately, it might be worth blocking off the path past the mountains with a tactical land grab. Perhaps a city settled near the hills to the west, ideally coastal/next to the mountain & river, and with access to the resources there. Also, there is one space available to pass through the mountain wall, but if we bought that tile early we could prevent other civilizations from settling there.

In my secondary role as naval commander, I advise against any research or experimentation onto the sea for the time being. God damn that 'water' is wobbly and unnatural. :crazyeye:

Also Caesar, if you wanted to add images as spoilers:

'Insert image' (square with mountains above where you type)
In the popup box, enter the URL of your steam shared files.

It will come up looking something like this: "<IMAGE>blahblah</IMAGE>"

You then highlight the whole thing (including <image> and </image>) and click the SPOIL speech bubble on the toolbar.

I believe that should work. Note: you need to do this separately for each image to have the images in separate spoiler tags :)

The people had high hopes for the Delphi people, but there were many challenges on the road to greatness. Barbarians plagued the farms around Delphi Nova, and there was no military in sight to stop them. To the far west, the brave and secluded spearmen were cut off from the empire, trapped by barbarian brutes. In the middle-ish area, our first settlers were under attack from all sides, but the escorting warriors were determined to settle a new land for the glory of the empire. Truly, rough times were ahead.

OR WERE THEY&#8253; In the west, the barbarians miraculously disappeared and the spearmen started on their way to the east. In the east, a group of barbarian brutes fell to the people of Delphi in a foolish raid on the city itself. In the middle-ish area, the settlers neared the place of settling, but some of them wanted to settle near the mountain, for an 'observatory,' whatever that was. The others wanted to settle near the beautiful beaches. Caesar resolved by... sending the settlers into a damp swamp(I accidently misclicked).

The settlers decided that the advisors were all-knowing, and moved to the top of a hill that bordered the coast. The place nearby had these weird animals that made a weird 'baaa' sound. The barbarians scattered and were quickly mopped up by the warriors and the incoming spearmen.

But not all is well. Brutes are still the terror of the workers around Delphi Nova, and the dirty Siamese have settled another city to our north. This is not the worst news.
Caesar, our glorious leader, has disappeared to 'a land where the Siamese burn under a GDR's foot'. It sounded glorious.

So, we have no leader and it is now up to the Delphian people to elect a new one.The candidates are:
Landlubber the inspired, advisor of religion and culture.
Rasputin- Expansion and growth
cpm- Engineer and Land Unit commander
Dostayer- economics and trade
mrkingkong- Science and Naval commander

These SCs should reveal everything about our Civ.

As for the election, I currently do not have a computer that can reliably run Civ V, although I will by mid-June, and I think we'll still be playing then, so I'd like to be withdrawn from every election until June 20th, which is when I go pick up my laptop at my university. I certainly intend to run once I have my laptop. For this election, I'd be interested to hear what the candidates would say about war with Siam. I favor building up towards a war, and I'll probably vote for the person who would be willing to prepare to lead our troops into battle.
Also, we do have a few different things to think about. First, we definitely need to rename the second city. I suggest Gaia to stick with the Greek theme. Second, we have our pantheon coming up. Oral Tradition seems like the clear choice to me because of all our cotton, but what do you guys think?

If i am elected I will go with pacifism untill we get Catapult.

As for my side I promise swift update. I have bought BNW last week so i can now run for leader.

CaesarKyros the 1st, Settler and Warrior both, we mourn the strange disappearance of thee.

The king is dead, long live the new king of the Delphians... who will no doubt be revealed shortly.

I am happy to take over regency if called by the people, but would prefer an advisorial capacity for the next few turns at least (keep the leadership rotating- power to the people, and all that).

My vote will most likely favour a war-with-Siam strategy, but if anyone running can come up with a reason for not destroying Rammy under an iron boot, I am all ears

Good luck in your campaigns folks! :goodjob::king:

PS> city name. In honour of the man who founded it, I propose the name Kyrosia as our second settlement... ?

Oh, thanks for the help anti-pirate. On another note....

The skies have been foretold by our best sky-readers(?), and they read "Elect a leader that will attack the Cats and their porcupine leader and you shall prosper. Elect a leader that does not do this, and may your farms be forever plagued by barbarians!"
-CaesarKyros, 2400 BC

VOTING IS NEARING ITS END. ALL VOTING WILL CEASE WHEN AT LEAST 4 PEOPLE HAVE VOTED

Candidates:Rasputin (pacifism until siege tower)
Anybody who will mess up Rammy's face. (aggression)

I'd rather see the game move along than wait on voting any longer, so I'll vote for Rasputin as well.
(Also, keep in mind that we're playing as Assyria, so our UU, the siege tower, replaces the catapult IIRC).

Congratulations Rasputin! You are the new king of the Delphian people! Please make your inaugural address. You will receive the PM with the game shortly. :)

WAIT! Do you mind if I just post the game here? I have no idea as to how I am supposed to send the game in a pm.
