The ultimate challenge deity part III, Bismarck

Dirk: thanks for the feedback. I prefer not too look at the Mao challenge so that I can play it next.

I played a few more turns (660AD) and..
Spoiler :

Han traded chemistry with me for nationalism and some older techs.
So far only Han and me have chemistry.
There is a chance that he might get cannons or grenadiers or cuirassiers soon. In the immortal university Aztec game he went for early grenadiers, so maybe it's a tech he favours.

Also, Mansa converted to his own founded Islam. There may be a chance to dogpile him together with Justinian later.
I will get oxford soon and I think I will push for tech advantage now. Worst case I will call of the war plans and get good trade value for the rifling tech.

I will start another golden age once rifling is done, draft for a few turns and then switch back to bureacracy/slavery/theocracy before the end of the GA.

Another good reason to attack Han is that he would make an excellent vassal. With a shared religion and free market I can get him friendly and then I can direct his research and trade with him.

Ok, you're going to play the Mao game, i look forward too that just as i look forward to the continuation here. i'll keep the possibility that you're going to play other games in mind in the future silverbullet, writing a spoiler if needed.

Thanks,
I am happy there are so many online deity games going on right now. There is more than enough to keep me busy (actually not enough free time to play :(), and there are people who won those games that I can learn from.

Played until 1400 AD
This game turned out somewhat similar to the Gilgamesh cookbook game.

Spoiler :

425AD liberalism->nationalism.
I start the Taj in Hamburg - it needs the extra culture. It will only need to work on it for 3 turns before the GE stationed there will hurry it.

450AD Traded for optics,banking,music

500AD Taj Mahal complete. Golden age begins. Start researching printing press.
Revolt to pacifism+caste+merc.

540AD Mansa coverts to Islam!

580 AD Trade gunpowder from Han

600AD Wang Kon coverts to free religion.
With Wang and Mansa out of hinduism, the religious love fest on the continent is over.

I finish printing press, start rep. parts

640 AD Trade Chemistry from Han

660 AD I decide to trade chemistry+200gold to Mansa for economics. It's the last turn of the golden age so it's an oppurtunity to start free market. Mansa is already in free market, and everyone except WK is in decentralization so I am guaranteed to get profitable trade routes.

Switch civics to slavery/free market/org.rel - I need to whip one more university before I can start oxford.

700 AD Replaceable parts is done. Rifling next

800 AD Oxford University done in Berlin
Islam spreads to my city, I quickly build a missionary to bring it to Berlin. This will be the 4th monastery there for a total of 240% research bonus. I will hate to lose 40% with scientific method.

880AD Rifling is done, Steel next
I decided to go to war against Mansa first. He is not a good friend of anyone and I can bribe Han against him. Mansa may get rifling soon (2 techs away), but with cannons I don't have to fear that very much.

I am starting globe in Hamburg - it's not the best food location - it has 1 irrigated corn for 6 and the rest of the tiles are grassland farms for 3. It will not be able to draft absolutely every turn, but it's location is best for drafting - right next to Mansa and Han.

920AD A great scientist starts a golden age. I have settled 3 great scientists in Berlin. Switch to caste+theocracy

980AD liberalism+rep.parts to Han for a war with Mansa. I want them to finish each other's SODs before my rifles+cannons come.

Mansa bribed WK to declare on Han, and Justinian declares on WK (I think this was no bribe, he had had enough on his hands for a while). Happy war times everywhere

1000 AD Steel done, start steam power

Revolt to Nationalism.
I have a great amount of hapiness surplus allowing me to draft 3~4 times from every non-globe city. I remain in caste system to take advantage of fully powered workshops to build cannons.

1010 AD Han makes peace with MM! WTH?? I just payed you to kill the guy?
At first I was angry, but then I realized it is a good thing. Han started sending MASSIVE armies of catapults, numidian cavalry and other outdated troops, as well as many grenadiers accross my land towards WK. It's a long way and they won't be back in time to defend their motherland :satan:

1050AD I declare on Mansa
1090AD I have captured Kumbi Saleh and destoyed most of Mansa's outdated army. Time to split my big stack to multiple cities to get as many of them as possible before he has rifling.

1200AD Captured Mansa's most important cities, including the statue of liberty.
Islam's holy city is on an island unfortunately.

I forgot Mansa is spiritual and I decided to accept his capitualtion in return for coverting to Hinduism and Theocracy (so that Justinian will be friendly with him too). I think this may have been a mistake. If he coverts back to islam there is nothing much I can do about it. I should have just killed him.

After the war with mansa was over, I was still losing money at 100% gold. This means that my army needs work to do - Han was my next target.

1250AD Assembly line is complete
1280AD Declare on Han. By now his war with WK was over (he captured 1 cities, Justinian captured a few, and WK vassaled to Justinian).
I set an archer to Justinian's land to find out when all of Han's army is coming back, but he never did.
I checked the diplomacy screen to find out that Justinian no longer has open boerders with Han and Han's army is locked in the city he conquered:

1400AD I made peace with Han after eliminating the orange colour from my side of the continent.

It seems that I still have a shot at the radio wonders. It's time to modernize my empire with assembly plants, ironworks and wall street. After that I will decide whether to go for another war or a peaceful win.
