I find this very frustrating folks! This game sucks!

First of all, it has only 64 fields and not enough pieces. The fields and units are just black and white. Black and white? I mean, who the hell makes or buys a monochrome game novadays?!? Also, some pieces can move only in a certain direction. What the hell? Also some units seem to be way overpowered. Take this one, for example: it's able to move in all directions, back and forth. Clearly broken mechanic. It also seems that I have to sacrifice some units to win. That's REALLY not how I want to play. But what's most frustrating is that it will take me at least two dozen weeks of solid playing to get around all the nuts and bolts at the game.

For my money, I want to win whenever I like, however I like. And I want to win NOW and get my PRAISE for winning, even if I spent exactly 0 minutes trying to understand how this game works.

Oh yeah, that's right. I'll say the magic words! "OR I WANT MY MONEY BACK." Ha-ha! Got ya!

Excuse him, he hasn't taken his pills... Stay calm good boy, come here, dress this white shirt, dont' worry, we'll take you to a safer place....

Lissenber, as others told, he is speaking of chess in the Civ V rant style...

It's only a joke, dude:lol:

Hah! As an old school fan I tell ya - it is classic in its finest. Back when this game was first released, they didn't even have monochrome monitors. They didn't have monitors at all!

With the above in mind you wouldn't believe how much work has been put into this one, I can't imagine how many patches and mods were released already. What you see my friend is a perfect product. And if you don't believe then you're a n00by console casual, when you'll be ragequitting let me know - I'll have your stuff! :D

P.S. I mean perfect - the AI is challenging, multiplayer works without fail, you have no issues with saving your games and everything is balanced :goodjob:

This post is hilarious. I spent 40$, I am god! Kneel before me. Bend to my wishes.

I think most of these posters are too young to have been real consumers much and so they haven't yet learned caveat emptor.

Transactions in the past few years that are perfectly common for adults and way more frustrating than having Firxais "rape you"

1. I have spent 60$ on crappy dinners at places where these same dishes are usually excellent. Cook that day decided not to try or whatever.
2. I have been charged by Comcast $300 for services they weren't providing (and it took me about a dozen hours and months to straighten this out).
3. I bought a Video Ipod from Best Buy despite my reservations about the durability of such a large screen when the salesman told me the warranty would cover normal wear and tear breakage on the screen. When the screen did break they told me "It was too expensive for us to cover that so we removed it from the coverage". You changed the insurance contract ex post facto? Took me making a big scene twice to get them to replace it.
4. Bought a pair of shoes with a lifetime warranty on them. 5 years later when they wore out I was told they no longer honored the warranty because it was too expensive (despite being a large and thriving company). I once again had to cause a big stink and still only got half off on my next pair.
5. I have bought several computer games that received decent reviews that just plain never worked at all, and were never patched. I am assuming the reviewers were told these things would be ironed out. I am not talking about the tiny stuff people whine about here. I am talking about issues that would be like *Mounted Units Cannot Attack, *When a city reaches size 10 it disappears from the map, * When you open the victory summary screen the game CTDs. Games that really are BROKEN, not unpolished.

Life as a consumer is not all flowers and ponies.

Companies are out to make a buck, not make you happy, and will only make you happy as much as they need to.

Oh things like * game crashes when someone gets city #70 * , *game does not save properly* *avoid growth button does not work* ,... ? Nope, we definitely haven't anything like that recently ...

To the OP:

Just for the record, you are talking of version 2.0. Version 1.0 was for four players, but the devs decided to streamline it because they couldn't make a AI that could win it even in version 2.0 in some milenia :D

I love it that all teams start with the same units units and when they're gone they're gone, you can't make any more. The promotion system is lame though, it needed another 600 years playtesting.

The avoid growth button works 99% of the time. Games crashes when you get 70 cities doesn't happen all the time, and is hardly important. I have had zero problem with save games.

@Kid R

Yup, the fact that you can promo only one type of unit is lame, but i think it was needed because they allowed you to choose all between all possible units except one ... kit would be way of OP if you could upgrade every unit.

He is talking about chess :D

Indeed. The publisher stepped on the developers pretty hard to make the game more customer-friendly so they they revamped the whole system. Tt was a multiplayer game for 4 players, each player controlled only 4 pieces, pieces came in 4 colors (red, blue, green and yellow) and the point of the game was to run in circles! Instant mega-hit! :crazyeye:

who would pay $40 for chess?
Plus after playing chess for 4000 years, who would like it if the knights were removed for the sake of "streamlining"

So if some guy made Chess II and all he did was change the names of the units and make them look a bit better you would be happy?
Civ 5 is not Civ 4, if you compare them like they are the same you will be dissapointed. Civ 5 should be praised for the fact that it evoked change, Civ 4 was probably the ultimate incarnation on Civ 1, nothing could realy be improved in that system. So they decided to just throw evreything out of the window and try to improve as many things as possible. So now you have the basics for a new game, that will be improved by the expansions/sequels.
If you go and play Civ I today, odds are you would probably just get bored and go play its sequels because they do the same thing so much better. But you can't go from Civ 4 to Civ 5 and expect it to do the same thing better, because its trying to do another thing...
