The V28 Freeze

City arrows in the main screen or in the city screen? With a city currently selected or not? (if so any particular one?)

Edit - also - viewports on or off? (if on what size?)

Edit 2 - which ones are DHs in the modular loading? Can I assume only ones with 'DH' in the name??

Edit 3 - so far I cannot generate any problems. That save only has 1 city, so the arrows do not appear in the city screen, and in the main screen they just select the single city. For me that is working fin (with no viewports at least)

Main screen, viewports off, Yes only DH modules ON in MLF area, it mainly happens only when i press on the right arrow and try to see the city screen for building units. The one that was there (savegame) repeatedly did it for me??

Even with the last same game i submitted, it does it, but this time its only intermittently happening

Its just frustrating when i try to go into the city screen this way and i forget to do a manual save, then it POOF CTD , then i lose everything i just tried to do.

I was just thinking again also, it might not work for you because of the Darn Rev On stuff again:mischief: (Whereas each time you go BACK and check stuff out, each time you do everything changes.):(

I'm slightly confused on two counts:

1) The save game you linked has only a single city, so not entirely sure why you are using the arrows at all? Is it just to get the (one) city centered?

2) Also the arrows in the main screen do not open the full city screen, they just select the city (which gives you some city info, but still in the main screen) - you mention the city screen above, so this seems to indicate we might not be talking about the same thing

I always USE the arrows, i am just different. I dont ever use the complete Main City screen, well maybe once an Era, but thats about it.

Yes its the partial city screen that i am talking about, my bad.

OK re-looking at what is going on in my savedgame, even current SVN, the AI is NOT using its transports to go to other continents and take over the VALUABLE land there, I intentionally left it WIDE open and they still haven't even moved there, and THEY are after Musketman Tech and AFTER. And still not there:mad:

We need a remedy before next release!

Wide angle and closer look angle screenies. .

Not sure if this is related, but in the game I experienced the freeze issues I had never seen a single transport filled with land units. The Goths had a ton of transport ships and I was like 0.2 of their military strength when they declared war, but they never even tried to invade "my" continent. Which ultimately led to their demise.

This was a v27 game, so the AI not using transports is no new issue (or was re-introduced).

I use to see transports invade. Especially Barbarian ones. Not so much anymore. Not sure why.

Probably related to the large strategic AI changes last July. At any rate Koshling has said he wants to look at the war AI when he gets back (and I do to for that matter, but not without his help otherwise I could easily wreck things), so hopefully the issue will see some looking at. Unless it is a large and easily fixable bug though (unlikely) it won't be before release.

I'm gonna stand with ls612 on this issue. Where loading and unloading AI movements is concerned, I am generally out of my realm of enough understanding to be of any effective help without risking causing bigger problems in the AI structure. It's one of the more complex issues in the AI processing as it is and ties in heavily with routing issues which is something none among us would understand to any degree even close to what Koshling would since he rewrote all the routing methods in the dll last year. This is clearly in his court!

Can someone please reach the Trans-Human Era so we can clone Koshling. Or at least develop the technology to download his skills into our brains?

Seconded . . . SO

Oh now that would be so cool! Though I think my brains might spill out my ears if I tried to fill it with all his knowledge! All I can say is I'm incredibly thankful we've been graced with he and AIAndy's masterful programming skills!

Could someone post a save where the AI clearly HAS transports and clearly needs to use them but is not doing so. I'll take a look at what the transport (and loading) AI are doing in that save and see if there is anything obvious going on...

Aw man, up until yesterday I still had all of my old savegames. Now I could only provide you with the one just before the freeze mentioned here.
The Goths do have a ton of Landing Ship Tanks stationed in the city of Adogit, but obviously now lacks the ground units to fill them. They seemed to have concentrated mainly on their Navy for the whole game though anyway.

They did have the land units to fill the transports before I destroyed their stack of doom (i.e. before I invaded their lands).
Admittetly it wasn't that big, although they had a huge technological lead, it would've been Thermobaric Tanks vs. Infantry.

Yeh - not saying he issue doesn't exist, just that the save you still have wouldn't illustrate it well enough for easy debugging is all.

I've updated the OP to show that nothing apparently came of SO's issues with building things, and so that we have fixed all of the known bugs for release. Great Job guys. :goodjob:
