I had taken the spy unit from C3C and changed the palette so that the unit was all shadows (like the shadow swordsman released a while back). I was informed later that Firaxis hadn't yet given permission for anyone else to release or modify their units outside of vanilla Civ3.

Thats fine, take your time. :) After all, we wouldn't want you burning out before you can make all the other units we need. ;)

I'm making a Myrddraal, but I'm still working on animations. It's hard to get them right, especially when my Myrddraal has a cape -_-

Capes aren't much fun to animate, hard to give them realistic movement. Stick with it though, it's worth it in the end. I've used tunics and coatails that I had to readjust in every frame. They can be frustrating at times, but it's stuff like that, that seperates it from just any other unit.

The pic you sent me looked good. Just make sure to switch up some of the black to gray, that way you can make distinctions at civ-scale. I'm sure you've got a handle on it. :)

Vaerraent, in the books it says that the Myrddraals' capes don't move in the wind, but I can't remember if that translated to regular movement as well. Don't know if this helps.
Anyway, I'm sure that whatever you do it will be great. :D

True Takeno, but I think they should at least move while fighting. A stiff cape can make you loose your head in a sword fight.

I'm pretty damn sure the capes move while fighting :P It'd be a little bit... strange if they didn't. Stranger than not moving in the wind, I mean. ;)

And do you need a high post count before you can use a custom avatar?

EDIT: Ignore me, I read the FAQ.

EDIT2: Uploaded a pic, early days yet. Gotta do some texture editing and stuff, but that will give you an idea.

Can't wait to see how it turns out. Looks good so far. :)

Edit: One tip, make the sword about 3x thicker than you think it should be. This helps prevent the sword disappearing in some angles at civ-scale. There have been times I've even made the width 250% its normal size with swords I've downloaded of the net.

He's looking great, Vaerraent. :goodjob:
The hood's a good idea though, since most of the unit models don't have eyes anyway. :mischief:

You guys are doing an amazing job!!! I keep checking back here every now and then to read up and get my mouth watering for this mod again. It's going to be really awesome.

Just one quick question. It sounds like you're planning on releasing this as a pre-populated world style scenario with the countries already set up as they are in Randland...? I really hope you are planning to have it playable from the begining as well with an unpopulated world - as if we are the first settlers after The Breaking. You could still have geographical placement of the races (right?). It shouldn't be too tough to set up the tech tree for the period up to Rand's era since it would pretty much mimic much of the normal Civ early tech-tree - if I'm not mistaken Randland civilization pretty much started from scratch after the breaking. I've played a few mods, but I'm not all that keen on the terminology for everything, so maybe I'm misunderstanding your eventual goal.

Keep up the great work. It is VERY appreciated.

ah HA! I FOUND YOU PEOPLE!

I have been searching on and off for a WoT mod since I joined CFC (mostly off ;p) if that gives you a clue as to how excited I am seeing this!

Anyway, anything I can do to help I am up for! I will have my copies of the books again weekend after next, but it really looks like you guys are pretty much done.

I am trying to read through your thread (might take a bit haha) but I just wanted to bookmark so I dont lost this thing!

I have little/no graphics skills (I ALMOST made an MUNIT once haha), but I do have experience testing and balancing if that is at all useful.

Seriously though, this has me all excited! Thanks guys!

The Panarch's Legion is posted. :)

Hope you guys like it.

As for being almost finished with the mod... I wouldn't go as far as to say that. ;) We have made some progress, but there's still plenty left to do if you really would like to help out. Glad you found us, and we appreciate any help you're willing to give.

And keep checking in as often as you like betrayerofhope. Hope to keep your mouth watering as we go. As for a mod without preplaced cities, it's possible. All anyone would have to do is basically delete the cities from the map... or so I think. The starting locations would still be the same for each civ since they're assigned, but you would lose places like Emond's Field, or any other place on the map that isn't designated as a capital (where all the starting points are).

I can use your services then Aeon.;) Right now, I'm just waiting for all the units to be created and then we'll start plugging in stats, but could def use your help, especially if you have experenice building tech trees.
