The World's most beautiful/ugly language ?

Inspired by a discussion in one of the football/soccer threads, let's ask the non-sports fans

What is the most beautiful language and the most ugly language you've ever heared ? Please answer, although the poll is just about the ugliest language (couldn't have 2 polls and ugliest discussion are usually more fun )

Beautiful :
1. Finnish : I really like how it sounds singy, and so alien. Raaksi kaaksi kölminen etc, just lovely
2. Japanese : They, like Finns, don't use multiple consonants which makes it sounds quite tough.
3. US English : Personally, I think it's one of the most fluent sounding languages there are.

Ugly :
1. Chinese : All the tones and nasal sounds are just too much. And they always seem to be yelling the language insteading of speaking it.
2. German : Oh, so harsh ... schweisserdeutch, even worse. I really hate their consonant mixes.
3. Arabic : It sound as if something is stuck in their throats... those trottal/glottal consonants are really ugly and weird to me.

I like German! I don't thnk there is an 'ugly' language as such, each language has it's own quirks plus it largely depends on who is speaking it!

Everyone associates German with those fiery Hitler speeches.

Anyway I like Italian, Hindi and Japanese. Dislike French (too nasal), Arabic (wierd throat stuff).

I like German! I don't thnk there is an 'ugly' language as such, each language has it's own quirks plus it largely depends on who is speaking it!

Ofcourse, but that's what makes it interesting to have a poll on, no one is right or wrong

I don't like Spanish, I was in it for 6 years and I cringe when I hear it.

EDIT: I think Russian is disgusting as well.

I think Russian sounds the best, I just like the way it sounds.

I also like English, it is the language I speak so I can't really complain about it.

German is unique as it is the only language where everything sounds like a death threat.(that impression is probably the result of watching too many war movies)

The only languages I don't like are whatever it was the Indians were speaking in South America, I have considerable difficulty pronouncing the torturous names of Aztec, Mayan, and Incan cities.

Personally, i prefer Mandarin, English, and French.

Well, I tried playing soccer against 11 Chinese players here at university ... ow man, those tones should made me feel dizzy, up and down and slow and fast ... oy.
It sounded like a violin player with a serious hangover (a joke, no bashing intended )

Japanese on the other hand only has 2 tones, instead of 5, and don't mix vowels

My favourite is Italian. It's great for romance and for yelling at someone.

Beautiful: Mandarin, French, English, Japanese, Hindi, Portuguese, Thai.
Ugly: Korean, Tamil

German, Portuguese and Italian are the most beautiful while English (whatever country), French and Arabic are the ugliest.
Someone said to me once that he considered Shakespeare a genius because he was the only guy in the world capable of making good poetry with english.

Which is a bit redundant, since Hitler was Austrian and many Germans in WW2 sneered at his funny accent.

Others: basically, i hate "taiwanese" especially if those taiwan ppl are speaking it, they tends to mix Minan "hokkien" dialect and when they cannot find the word, they will mix in some Mandarin. Hate it more when that Chen is trying to make it a national language.

beautiful: French, Portugese, Mandarin, English, Malay, Japanese(when a lady speaking it)
other ugly: Korean.
