I've seen theatre in the nude. It's distracting for a while, but you quickly become accostomed to it. As the Japanese are quoated as saying, "Nudity is often seen, and seldom looked at."

This scene is quite different, since the shock value of a glimpse is much greater than a long look.

That's because the Japanese have less of a "thing" about nudity than Americans do (Europeans, too). They will shamelessly walk around locker rooms and hot springs with no clothes, and Americans try to keep their parts covered at all times. You do indeed get over it after a very short while.
