Yes. Basically, anything that doesn't qualify as a great power shouldn't be in there.

What about regions like sub-saharan Africa, through out history no superpowers have presided over this regions except colonial ones. It doesn't hurt to add Zimbabwe or Zulu

Mali, Ethiopia, Ghana, Kanem-Bornu, and Benin, for example, all were great empires. Just because they're not European doesn't make them not great :p

Dont forget the Songhai and the Kush ;) I love African culture, Europeon is too monotonous to be interesting IMO.

I wouldn't say it's monotonous, it's just that in school, it's the practically the only history we learn about; which gets really boring after a while.

In my opinion Europe has about as much variety in it than West Africa. It's interesting, but the civilizations and nations themselves lack major differences, which makes them seem very monotonous when thats all you learn about. So in other words I agree.

In Civ6 there should be just four civilizations: Native American, Western, Middle-Eastern, Far Eastern.

Of course, three of those aren't really civilizations, so in Civ7 there will be just one.

I have to agree the more Civilizations there are, the similiar they are apt to be, with little game play difference between Polynesians, Hawaiians, Samoans, Fijjians and so forth.

But wouldn't it be cool to start on a huge world map. Playing as the Hawaiians, having to fight off a different Tribe (call them Barbarian Hordes) on each island as you consolidate your homeland, before making your way across the Pacific to take out (or befriend) the Tahitian City State. And then, only after you've dealt with the local competion and have become the power that is to be China or India or the Polynesian Empire, are you in a position to confront the rest of the survivors around the globe.

Granted, the diplomacy screen could get a bit hectic, but I'm thinking one way or another even if one started with a hundred competitors (Civilizations, Barbarians, and City States) by the time one encountered them all, most would have been effectively subordinated by another.
