Things I notice about AI civs...

Egypt always does very well in my games, both as Me and AI (except in GOTM 9 which I (sorry) gave up). I have seen Babylon do very well (#2 civ), but maybe because they had peaceful neighbours (Greece, bad spot and too weak to attack, and me as Egypt playing a builder game. I took care of the Romans in the north of the continent).

Germany - just begins to crumble when they get their UU. Funny, that.

Persia always does well. Have seen strong Russia and France, no strong America.

Has anyone seen the Iroqois do well as AI? I find them great to play, but don't remember seing them as a strong AI civ ever.

Japan always seem to initiate an early war every time that I am unlucky enough to start right next to them with warriors or archers  When that happens I usually buy Horseback riding from another civ and wipe Japan off the face of the earth.

Another constant is Zulu will always declare war on me no matter where they are on the map in relation to me. Countless times they've declare war on my and they are literally on the other end of the world. Spent the whole 20 turns of the war never see a single zulu unit and they sue for peace at the end of 20 turns.

for the ai civs, a lot of how well they do is dependent on their neighbors - one of the more interesting aspects of the game (call me "fanboy").

i've noticed that the french usually do fairly well throughout the game, as do the persians. egyptians are also usu. pretty strong. most of the militaristic ai civs do well early and then lag.

overall, the toughest ai opponent is the persians. but they will all pale in comparison to the human opponents of mp. i predict earlier wars, more numerous wars, overall shorter wars, and humans ganging up on other humans bcs human players will be the real threat.

Germany and Persia always attack me early for no reason.

America is always on another continent, and by the time I meet them they're HUGE.

I noticed that the frenchies always break their agreements with me and go to war. America sucks in all my games. Germany also always goes to war but ends up in the back of the pack by the modern age. My citizens still have no beer.

the germans usually do fairly well in my experience. has anyone seen a major panzer offensive by an ai germany? i've seen a few panzers roaming around, but never a huge offensive taking advantage of the 3 mvmt points. perhaps it's more likely with the 1.29 patch?

I tend to think that you can generally categaorzie the civs but it has more to do with land, then land, then their neighbours.

Xerxes: for someone who decalred war on the ocean he is always pretty strong. i just hope that i start near him, so i can try to secure the iron.

Hiawatha: has typically done well if he has some flood plain or grassland abundance.

Cleopatra: she tends to be the one i've noticed with the most staying power. horrible UU, but great stats(ind, relig)

all said and done this game should be renamed "The Realtors Guide to Empirical Prowess: Location, Location, Location"

Excuse me, but Bizmark is ALWAYS an arrogant prick.

In my opinion, EVERY AI civ leader is an arrogant prick.

I've found that if you can find a common enemy, even Bismarck and even Shaka can be loyal allies.

Until last week, no. Human's can conquer the world with them, AI seems to flounder. In a 1.29f Emperor game last week, however, they were the biggest, baddest civ left in the game (small map, 6 random civs). They lost the space race, but could have won it if the AI were programmed to pursue the victory without deviation (i.e., don't research techs like stealth, recycling, miniturization, etc. when ss victory is right around the corner).

I can also play the Zulu fairly well, but the AI seems to be a disaster. Might dominate the early game, but come late middle ages / early industrial, hits a wall.
