I don't know who's idea it was originally, but from now on I'll play every game every month! Only I'm afraid that I'll play for beacon and beans (Dutch, translate: my results won't matter). I mean, I'll want to know what the average score was, how many players participated and what my place is among everyone, since I probably won't be in the top 3 (far from it).

What do you guys think of this? I actually volunteered to Thunderfall to do this, but that's something for him to decide. I'd even keep up a score for everyone who played.

Great Idea Matrix, If there's one thing I really love it's Civilzation Statistics.

I think that it's a great idea - There is not much that I like more than seeing statistics about game competitions.

And of cause your right there should be a list of all the games, both listed with the highest score on the top and with the fastest game on the top. And average score/speed should also be included - that would really be cool - I know that I would be at the bottom, when it comes to speed, but to see how all the others did it and what that average was - GO FOR IT!!!!!!!

Yes! If there are any real statisticians in the crowd, it would be nice to see someone who knows what they're doing churn the numbers and divine some sort of wisdom from them.

I definitely would like to see where I rank on this (not in any top 3 I assure you). It will let me know how far I have to go to improve!

That's a great idea, matrix. I can let you do it (why not, it will save me lots of work)

For each GOTM, I think we need following stats:

Player Name | Score | Rating | End-Game Year | Population | Number of Cities | and of course a zip file containing the saved games. The table should be sorted by score. We don't need to take any screenshots, just pure data.

What other stats would you like to see?

I've heard of population not couting with cities over certain size, how are we going to take care of this, or are we talking citizen heads at the end game?

Wow, what an enthusiasm! I'll make it so! I agree with the data you named, Thunderfall. There are only a few thing we (Thun.&me) need to work out...

Anyway, from now on I'd like to have the savegames+score&finishdate.

Thanks everyone!

About the population: I can't count everyones 'head'-population, so it'll have to be what is said in the view under the map.

But I've got another suggestion: it's my opinion that a "good" game is a mixure of ending the game fast and having a high score. So I'd like to make some calculation (I can come up with something meaningful) where I make my own score to indicate who plays best. But this is something very apart - I mean, making my own score - so you may throw it immediately in the dustbin. Please, speak! (Type!}

B.t.w.: I'm saying this on the fact that I myself always play for both, which is not handy in the type of game. And making more and more turns while you can already win isn't fun to play; at least, that's what I think.

Matrix, can't you just get the games that are already turned in from Thunderfall, or do I need to resubmit my game?

So future games we forward to TF, or both TF and Matrix??

BTW, Matrix, I'm late to the discussion, but excellent ideas, both

From now on, I'm the administrator of the GOTM. Thunderfall has supervision - he started it, he's got more experience and so forth - but nevertheless, the savegames go to me.

And thank you, Leo. But it wasn't originally my idea...

I think this is a good idea too. I just didn't post it until now.

Bye the way, I am almost done whit my game so you should get it soon.

You have my vote for the speed-to-score ratio idea.

Also: I'm not a big fan of space travel, creating two categories for Space Race/ World Domination would be nice.

Sorry, but whether you end by the space race or by world domination is up to the player. But now that the finishing date matters, I think that world domination gives a higher GOTM-score, since a space race takes a longer time. So, you won't have to build a spaceship.
