is there a way to cancel a chkdsk on an external USB 1.1 connected drive? They're better be because the way this is going it won't get done for a century

The progress bar for Phase 2 is still at zero even though it's been like an hour already. It's 160GB and connected with my slow USB 1.1 ... anyone know how long it will take? Cancel button is inoperative

Would "ejecting" the drive with "Safely Remove Hardware" work?

Not sure..... Safely remove hardware won't work, because the disk is in-use. Cancel doesn't work?

Could maybe CTRL-Alt-Delete to stop chkdsk - I wouldn't guarantee that that is the smartest way.

As far as damage to the disk goes, it shouldn't be a problem, as all chkdsk does is read the data and re-write it. But don't hang your akubra on anything I've got to say.....
