Timer?

[TIMER="9/9/2012 11:00 PM GMT-7"]Testing[/TIMER]

Looks a bit better. I'm a bit divided on whether just the numbers should be bold or the whole thing.

I like the whole thing being bold, catches attention more easily.

You can just bold it, methinks.

So, there have been reports that setting the time zone in GMT/UTC/whatever and then adding, say, -03:00 causes it to work for some but not others, while adding -3 works for those for whom -03:00 doesn't work, but also causes some other people to see the timer not work, and it's weird.

I see y'all found it -- we're still discussing policy on its use.

The initial thought is that we'd like to avoid putting it in signatures, as that could get very distracting. Yes, I'm aware that there are a few legitimate uses for it, like the example that Catharsis already has up.

Unless the seconds can be removed, yeah, please ban it from sigs.

We allow animated smileys in sigs, don't see why timer's can't be in too.

They're not that distracting.

I am more insulted by the yellow in the above sig than timers :p

I don't understand why Joe's signature is acceptable, but spoilers are not. That doesn't make any sense to me.

Spoilers are ugly and distracting. Joe's sig is just ugly (an acceptable kind of ugly).

You can just use rgb settings in the colour tag, Joe.

Here's a tool. http://www.colorpicker.com/

Oooooh, thanks.

I ended up going to Wikipedia and looking up the actual school colors, turns out the yellow is called "old gold", which is a tad more pleasing to the eyes, no?

It is. The same can be applied to the timer of course.
