I suggest that, in next version Civ III, there will be use of an ideas there, in this forum!

Anyway, I suggest that:
A) There will be multiplayer in next version of Civ III.
B) In Map Editor, you can make EXACT start locations for SPECIFIC civilizations, so Germans can begin in REAL Berlin, and all this!
C) That there will be some new civilizations. I suggest the following new Civilizations:

Adjective Name: Carthagenian
Tribe Name: Carthage
Leader: Hannibal
Leaders (unit leader):
Zidona
Hasdrubal
Capital City: Carthage
Special Unit: Trirema (faster Galley, on graphics - larger size)
Global Culture: Mediterranean
Bonuses: Militaristic and Expansionist
Shunned Government: Communism
Favorite Government: Monarchy

Adjective Name: Arab
Tribe Name: Arabia
Leader: Uthman
Leaders (unit leader):
Muhhamed
Abu Bakr
Abu al-Abas
Abd al-Rahman
Harun al-Rashid
Capital City: Medina
Special Unit: Bedoiun (Horseman with better Attack, on graphics - rides camel)
Global Culture: Middle Eastern
Bonuses: Scientific and Expansionist
Shunned Government: Democracy
Favorite Government: Monarchy

Adjective Name: Spanish
Tribe Name: Spain
Leader: Charles V
Leaders (unit leader):
Rodrigo
Columbus
Duke Alba
Franco
Capital City: Madrid
Special Unit: Conquistador (Musketman with better attack and better speed, on graphics - rides horse)
Global Culture: European
Bonuses: Commercial and Expansionist
Shunned Government: Communism
Favorite Government: Republic

Adjective Name: Swedish
Tribe Name: Sweden
Leader: Gustav Adolf
Leaders (unit leader):
Oleg
Gustav Vasa
Karl XII
Capital City: Stockgholm
Special Unit: Dragoon (faster Cavalry)
Global Culture: European
Bonuses: Militaristic and Scientific
Shunned Government: Cojmmunism
Favorite Government: Democracy

So, I hope you will consider about this...

When you build something and have finished 36 of 40 shields, and your city produces 6 shields per turn, 2 shields will be lost. They should be added to the next thing you build.

Same thing with researching. In Civ1 remaining research points were added to the next advance. I wonder why they changed this... :(

We can create extra civilizations ourselves, its not hard (so long as there is a decent graphics guru in you team)

If there is one thing I would like firaxis to do, its to un-hardcode the foreign advisor. The foreign advisor is supposed to get the filenames for the mini photos from pediaicons.txt but for some reason they have been hardcoded into civilization.exe (take a look with a hex editor!) PLEASE FIX!

This was said in the Apolyton Christmas chat. I'm not 100% sure that my question was what Jeff answerd to, but I can't see anything else that the answer applies to.
Apolyton Civ3 Chrismas chat
[Gramphos] Why aren't the images for the foreign advisor read from pediaicons.txt?
[Libertarian] Another aspect that deserves recognition: the artwork is wonderful.
[Jeff_Morris_FIRAXIS] Probably different programmers implmeneted it...a good idea

I like making scenarios and I think that Test of Time was a good game for scenario-making. If possible, it would be nice if you could include some of the features from Test of Time which were left out of Civ 3, e.g.

- Multiple maps: Each unit has a flag for whether it can exist on each map, and whether it can move freely between them. For those which can't move freely, there could be a terrain improvement which allows units to, and could also be used to transport resources between maps. Also, terrain improvements/cities, etc. could look different on each map, and each civ could have its starting location on a specified map.

- Scenario setup - not just placing overlays on the map, but deciding which civs are in the game, and placing their cities and units.

Also, it might be good if you could have a way of specifying graphics files for all units, improvements, terrain, etc. in the editor.

i would like be able to create "armies" for the workers. it would spare a lot of time if we were able to move three workers at the same time.

Here are a couple of things that come to mind:

- Allow me to build railroads if I have iron and EITHER coal or oil. The way it is now you could have modern weapons, etc, but not be able to build a railroad because you don't have any coal

- Allow all units to be bought and sold on the bargaining table. This way if I have a small country with no resources I could buy, for example, tanks and mech infantry so I'm not easy pickings for some bully next door.

These next few things should maybe be tied in to a new type of diplomatic agreement called "immigration agreement", or at least tie it to the right of passage agreement:

- Let me tell my workers to join a foreign city if I want them to.

- Workers don't work on foreign civ territory unless there is an immigration agreement

- When one civ's workers are doing work in another civ's territory, 1 gold is transferred per turn for each worker from the civ receiving the work to the civ supplying the workers.

- When the immigration agreement is cancelled, all foreign workers are deported (back to the other capitol maybe).

We need those civs TO BE USED AS THE NORMAL CIVS, so who is better in creating those then Firaxis? So why should we work on those, if we can receive them in the game?

I got a feeling Firaxis is gonna try and rake in the dough with some expansion sets like ToT or FantasticWorlds. You just gonna have to cough up a little dough, but like multiplayer i think this may all be coming. Its the waiting thats hard...

it would be nice if there was some way to add new music or simply change some of the songs. I know there will probably be some new songs when the expansion pack comes out, but it would be nice if there was some way to put what songs i want into the game. In some Electronic Arts games you can actually insert your own CD and it will play during the game. If that isnt technically feasible, then it would still be nice to be able to run the music from an extrenal mp3 player or something like that and still have the game work.

So you'll wait for Firaxis to do all the Civ's in the world, plus all factions etc?

Granted, let them make a bit of money out of providing some major Civ's like spain ( and you just watch, they will! ). But i'm not waiting for them to get round to Scotland or Wales, or even Royalists and Parliamentarians, not to mention Sommerlund'ians and Cloasian's etc from Joe Dever's books.....

Hi guys! You all seem no more more than your share about the upcoming expansion pack, so I was wondering if anyone of you guys knew when it would come out?

You know, not only is that a great idea, it's quite realistic, too. Just because a civ is "underdeveloped" doesn't mean they won't have anything a more advanced civ would want (say, luxuries, or Coal for their *bleep*ing railroads), and the more advanced civ might be quite willing to pay directly in military equipment rather than promised future military support. It's happened rather frequently in RL and I don't see any reason it couldn't be done in Civ, either.

for a expantion pack i think we should be asking for things that cant be done by ourselfs(or i should say the awesome mod makers out there) .... like things the mod makes cant do ... and leave everything else for the mod makers to do

i like that trading units idea .... u could be able to trade units like u can with workers .... just put them in your capital and trade em over the table ... that is a really good idea

i would like to see landmarks back .... like they were in AC ... i really dont understand fraxis taking them out at all (think 7 natural wonders in the world)

it would be cool if some wonders could change the landscape (hoovers dam actually made a lake on the river u damed, the great wall was a great wall ... that sort of thing)

i would like to see internal borders .... even if it was only to make it easier to navigate around the map (and remember where everything is) or even better if u could carve your nation up and make several countries out of it (to make the empire more manageable) ... think the brittish empire for this concept ... and the new countries ... australia, canada, NZ and so on ... ...

changes like these would change the game so much i would be VERY willing to pay for an expantion .... rather than just a multiplayer addon with a few new graphics and civs to play with

btw .... if the addon is only multi and some freely available mods then i for one will be pyrating it .... if fraxis can be bothered and put some real work in .... i will gladly part wth more spondoolies for there expantion

And just better editor would be nice :D
So modmakers could do all fancy stuff...

I'm not certain has anyone suggested random effects?

I mean natural disasters and happenings like civil wars that would change the flow of the game?

Barbarians appear as terrorist later in the game...

i think barbarians should be a big threat like they used to be.
ok so they can be a nuisance killing the odd worker or scout, maybe even pillaging some gold from a city.
The fact is, how many barbarians have you heard of in mythology who enter an unprotected city and just amke off with a bit of gold without burning the place to the ground or capturing it for themselves.
this creates a new civ and makes the game more interesting (and more difficult)

Railways:
why do they make land more fertile?
surely the opposite is true? ah well...
all i want is that railroads only improve transport speeds, not food or dhield production. that way my pretty empire will not need to be 100% covered in a mass of ugly railways (assuming i have coal...)

Editor:
let us place cities, units and improvements!!!
is it too much to ask???
need i say more, Firaxis...i woz robbed!

Railways don't make land more fertile, they allow you to get the resources out more efficiently. In North America (I'm not sure about Europe) a huge amount of grain, livestock, and other foodstuffs is transported by rail. So I don't have a problem with that.

What does bug me about railroads is that they don't make forests more productive. Same principle applies as with farmland. You can transport a lot more lumber more quickly with a rail line.

I agree strongly with Beelzibub: we need to be able to place cities and stuff in Civ3Edit! I created some great scenarios in other games (AoE II, Starcraft) with tools like that. Also, a campaign editor would be nice, to allow for some plot and sense of connection with scenarios.

SubZero also has a good idea. Maybe if a civ had a lot of war weariness/low approval rating it would break out in civil war.

One more thing: I disagreed with the Civ2 "barbarians capturing cities" concept. In my opinion, roaming, raiding tribes are unlikely to find an unprotected city and just settle down and take control. Although I agree with Beelzibub that barbarians are pretty wimpy, they could just have them upgrade with the ages to make them more of a threat.
