To Hell With Firaxis

I have been a player of CIV since CIV I. I am always the first of my friends to pick it up, and I am always the one who convinces my friends to purchase it. This is the last piece of software I'll be buying from Firaxis. I'll ensure my friends address this similarly. Firaxis should consider actually testing their products adequately in the future before shipping.

My system is more than adequate to run their software, yet said software will not run. At first, it ran, but terrain didn't display (it was all black, only people, cities, and resources appeared). I reinstalled, and now it simply doesn't run.

To Hell with Firaxis. By the way, don't even try the support line. Call back in 24 hours my ass.......

Either your drivers suck or your video card sucks.....I played for several hours and I LOVE Firaxis.

Again, is this because of the ATI Render bug, which is an actual issue, or is this because your graphics card does not support HW T&L?

Does your video card support T&L? Because I've heard that is what causes the terrain blackness problem.

Well, I am not buying and wasting money on Civ4 then. Back to Civ3 for me .

GeForce 4 cards DO support hardware T&L, so that shouldn't be a problem. Download Driver Cleaner from http://www.drivercleaner.net/

Now, go to http://nvidia.com/content/drivers/drivers.asp and download the latest drivers. Run driver cleaner, select Nvidia from the drop down box, and click 'Clean'. Now restart your computer and install the drivers you downloaded, and see if that helps.

seriously everyone, because of the very wide range of video card manafactuers and models, the most common bugs are with video card and directx compatability. I know it sucks you can't play right now, but give it a week and I'm sure things will be worked out.

I really appreciate the feedback guys, but I don't even have an ATI video card. It's an intel. I've been at this since 3:00PM. Tried everything applicable

Not all the GEforce 4 the MX version don'T support it as far as I remember

What card? If it doesn't support Hardware Transforming and Lighting, that's not Friraxis' fault. Very few games nowadays run without HT&L

I think your graphics card isn't good enough to run the game. Upgrade it and you won't be upsed.

I had an INTEL card once.......Then I shot it with my Ak-47 No kidding. Made a very nice sound when it was hit by the bullets
