To My Horror

I've been there, a few times. The best thing is just take some time off, eventually you will get the urge again. I once went nearly eight months without playing Civ  but I am back and going strong. This too will pass. ;)

Stories are harder to do than games because you have a specific goal and desire of quality that just playing doesn't have. But I understand because I've only just started playing again since April. Sgotm 13 broke me. I didn't want to bother with it again. I quit the regular Gotm as well, but now I sent one in again and 3 more for the Hof in the last few weeks. Just do it when you get around and you will be back into it.

Yeah, a break is probably the best thing. Another good idea is to play a scenario or two that diverged pretty far from standard Civ. Something like "Escape From Zombie Island 2" makes it feel like a whole new game again. After a couple of these types of scenarios coming back to standard Civ feels exciting again.

Just my two cents.

Yep, have had this many times. Even back in the Civ2 days. The best advise, as already noted, is to take a break. This is true with other games as well, I am looking at you Call Of Duty. I like to switch it up, even go outside if the weather is nice.

Read a book, go out and see the real world, play a different game, there are many things that work. Sid still loves you and will welcome you back when you return. The civ-blahs is an acute condition, with occasional relapses. It is rarely permanent and has never been reported as fatal.

Edit: Here is a link to a thread I did about this very thing: http://forums.civfanatics.com/showthread.php?t=269656&highlight=civ-blahs

Take a Christmas brake(paid vacation from civving)! Rest, eat sweets, spend time with family, recover from civ-blah and then return to conquer the world.

I sometimes get that feeling, try other games for a bit, quickly realise how short a time they hold my attention, then sooner or later go back to Civ. I that time I usually get all sorts of stuff done that has built up because I've been playing Civ too much...

Hope you recover soon.

There is a little game play method that Rodent and I developed while chatting one day...

We call them potato chip games as they are about as meaningful and last about as long as it takes to eat a potato chip.

Play a tiny map with the Zulu or another mil tribe with a good early unit and just go hit stuff. :hammer:

a good player can hit domination in about an hour and they are just plain fun. No thought required and your high tech unit is that horsemen army

Do what Darski said with the Aztecs. Better yet, do it with the Inca and sedentary barbs on say Cheiftain. If you do things right, and have a little luck, you can literrally walk into undefended AI cities and win a conquest victory without a fight.

Did something like that with an Emporer difficulty tiny pangea not terribly long ago.

Made me some fat stacks of immortals and scored a conquest victory in 350BC  It was raging fun, only took about an hour, and still stands as the high score on my machine.

See... just like eating potato chips. They are fun and have major whackage. What more could you ask for?

Hey, I'm gonna play that kind of game!
Do you tick the always war option? Or do you just plain old ROP rape them?
