How long would it take you to type this.

I meant how long to type that in english.

A second or two, usually it doesn't take that much extra time to type in English. The only reason it might take longer is if I have to look up a word.

i can type at 90 words per minute.

all bow down before me.

Pffft. Back in HS keyboarding class, I'd hit a lot of random keys at once I could get upwards of 200 per minute.

I can type Spanish pretty quickly. Except when I come to a word I don't know.

BTW, do any of you "English-as-2nd-language" guys have to sometimes stop and look up a word when posting here?

My record was around 400 keys per minute typing business letters with up to 1 typo per minute, in Spanish, which is more difficult to type than English cos of the accent marks.

Very often, usually to look up the meaning or the use of the word, context and which prepositions can be used with certain words.

Hah. Then I'm a cheater. I don't even bother with those stupid accent marks.

There is absolutely no difference in my typing speed when I type in English or when I type in French.
You adjust to the different keyboards fairly fast, too.

And je can meme try de mix Francais and Anglais in la same phrase fairly facilement. :)

I think what cubsfan6506 so poorly tried to ask was:

If English was not your first language, how much time did it take in your life before you learned enough English to be able to type a simple sentence in English?

But I might be wrong.

What he said.

I type English slower than my native languages because the words are longer, more complicated and the spelling is so inconsistent. The word order is also a bit more clumsy at times.
