I'm Tokugawa on a Huge map. I'm going for massive expansion, but how do I turn it to a win? Huge maps are very big...it's at Marathon, but still. Time victory is inelegant I feel, so I want Domination or Conquest. How to go about it?

IMO in warlord togu is amazing killer...almost all units you build are "extra" promoted... and samurai is still as good as it was in Vanilla...

Protective is not that good, but Recently I have found its uses... (chinese leaders are good)
Togu is only leader I can lead to really early and total domination...first with archers, axmens and cats. then cats trebs and Samurais will finish the job...(depends wich mapsize, I play small or standard...)
Organized was good help in domination win, but protective gives Togu ability to start killing neighbours already with archers...it´s good if you don´t have copper and you haven´t yet invent Iron...

Samurai is LOT better than regular maceman, because it has first strikes to eat longbowmens...

In huge I would try conquest... But I can´t really say any specific helpful info, cause I don´t play huge and I haven´t try other speeds than normal and quick (latter only in OCC)...

you definatly need oracle slingshot for courthouses asap.
Rex till you find your neighbours. Expand as fast and long as possible. But try to keep your science rate at 50/60%. stop when you reach 50%. when your 60/70% rex again or war. On huge maps only use a part of your empire to war. Focus your other cities on infrastructure, and alternate between them.
Cottage spam early, make lots of workers. You'll need calander and markets early for happines so your cities can grow and support your empire. Take over your first few enemys and vassalage the rest.
Good luck though. I never tried it on a huge map.

Once you hit samurai, you should be a terror for the rest of the game. After samurai, you get TRIPLE-PROMOTED gunpowder units all the way to Mechanized Infantry. It's like a UU that keeps on giving!

It's 15XX. Roosevelt and Catherine are on the ropes but my tech meter is down to 30%. I have a SoD with Grenadiers and Knights about to finish off Roosevelt.

My empire is currently split in two by Huayna and Isabella, close allies - Roosevelt was on the other side of them.

Oh yeah, I killed Cyrus very early but Isabella and Huayna settled really fast because I razed instead of keeping - didn't want to disperse my momentum by trying to hold cities. They got the spoils from that war - dumb of me.

Well, you still got plenty of cash for razing those cities, so I wouldn't worry about it.

Go ahead and finish off Roosevelt and Catherine, then repair your economy.

For an industrial-to-modern era Domination Victory, your ideal Civics combination is Police State - Nationhood - Emancipation (or Slavery) - State Property - Theocracy (or Free Religion). Universal Suffrage can be useful when you are preparing for war, but once War Weariness kicks in, Police State is required.

You will need plenty of Jails, and you should build Mount Rushmore as soon as you have a chance. Police State + Mount Rushmore + Jail = zero War Weariness. Until you reach that point, you may find yourself needing the culture slider, so Theaters and Coliseums (and broadcast towers, when you get to Mass Media) are also nice.

Phase I of your push will be with Artillery, Tanks, and Infantry. When you learn Flight and Radio, build Bombers and a few Fighters, and STOP building Artillery (air replaces artillery).

Build Airports as soon as you learn Flight. Airports allow you to airlift units into newly captured cities, and will greatly accelerate your conquest.

Once you get into the modern era, your key units will be Stealth Bombers, Modern Armor, and Mechanized Infantry. If your opponents mount any kind of defense, you may need to invest in counters (Jet Fighters counter Jet Fighters, Gunships counter Armor, SAMs counter Gunships, etc).

The battle for any city follows the following formula:
  1. Bombard defenses (don't forget that air and sea units can do this, too!)
  2. Collateral Damage (artillery, bombers, and barrage-promoted armor do this).
  3. Clean up (drill-promoted armor are best for this)
  4. Garrison (1 or 2 Infantry/Mech Infantry should be enough).
  5. Heal up, rinse, and repeat.

Hooray! You have now achieved Domination Victory!
